The Blue Exorcist series is an anime based on Kazue Kato’s hit manga published in Jump Square (by SHUEISHA) and it streamed on Hulu, crunchyroll, as well as on Neon Alley (English dub version). In response to its worldwide popularity, the movie was produced with an original story and released in North American theaters in August. The action-packed fantasy tale from animation studio A-1 Pictures (Sword Art Online, Magi: The Labyrinth of Magic) features plenty of breathtaking visuals throughout the film. Stravinskas, Ph.D., S.T.D., on the occasion of the fiftieth anniversary of the Class of 1968 from St. Joseph High School in Toms River, New Jersey, on 22 September 2018, the vigil of the Twentieth-fifth Sunday of the Year (B). In biblical studies, St. John the Baptist is often referred to as an “intertestamental” figure, by which is meant that he straddles the Old and New Testaments: he closes out the Old and ushers in the New. In some way, I think the same can be said about our class: We began our Catholic education in ways that differed only slightly from our parents and even grandparents. By the time we got to high school, it appeared that an entirely new ball game was in play. Indeed, our graduation year of 1968 has been called the annus horribilis. In society, we were confronted with riots and assassinations; in the Church, we beheld the mass exodus of clergy and Religious, as well as a full-blown rebellion against a Pope’s encyclical. The stability of our grammar school years gave way to confused and confusing religion classes, disrespect and challenging of teachers (whether justified or not), and three Sister-Principals in four years. -

The RSA Social Brain Centre The RSA Social Brain Centre, which will be launched formally later this year, seeks to demon- strate why the emerging scientific account of human nature has practical relevance for our attempts to change our values, attitudes and behaviours. We endeavour to move beyond the ‘rational actor model’ that has dominated social and economic thought for decades. The early 21st century account suggests we are constituted by evolutionary biology, embedded in complex social networks, largely habitual creatures, highly sensitive to social and cultural norms and ultimately more rationalising than rational. This emerging conception of human nature is radically different from the prevailing implicit view, but in public and private life many continue to act as if we had not learned anything useful about our brains, behaviour and biases in recent years. We therefore need to make prevailing theories of human nature more accurate through research, explicit through public dissemination and empow- ering through practical engagement. Through this ongoing process of thought and action, the Social Brain Centre seeks to support personal develop- ment and wellbeing, inform government policy, and improve social, financial, environmental and educational practice. -
