JUNE 3 & 4, 2016 SAN FRANCISCO (April 4, 2016) – HoteL Nikko San Francisco and MichaeL Feinstein are thrilled to welcome the four-time Tony Award nominee, Judy Kuhn, to Feinstein’s at the Nikko for two performances of her acclaimed show, Rodgers, Rodgers & Guettel, on Friday, June 3 at 8 p.m. and Saturday, June 4 at 7 p.m. Kuhn’s new show celebrates a century of American song from one remarkable family: Richard Rodgers, his daughter Mary Rodgers and her son Adam Guettel. When the show premiered to a sold-out crowd at Lincoln Center’s American Songbook, the New York Times called Kuhn a “top of the line singer [who] portrayed the lineage of the composer Richard Rodgers as more than bloodline, [but] a proudly romantic musical tradition.” Rodgers, Rodgers & Guettel features musical direction and arrangements by Todd Almond. Judy Kuhn is a four-time Tony Award nominee, most recently for her starring role in Lisa Kron and Jeanine Tesori’s Tony Award-winning musical, Fun Home directed by Sam Gold. There is a $20 food and beverage minimum per person inside the showroom which guests can use towards cocktails as well as a variety of small plates crafted exclusively for Feinstein’s at the Nikko, through Restaurant Anzu. Cheese and dessert platters will also be available in the showroom. Guests of Feinstein’s at the Nikko can enjoy a variety of food and beverage options before performances. Kanpai Lounge, located in Hotel Nikko’s lobby, offers light cuisine, a full bar and specialty cocktails. As the show unfolds, meet Bechdel at three different life stages as she grows and grapples with her uniquely dysfunctional family, her sexuality, and her father’s secrets. ABOUT THE WRITERS LISA KRON was born and raised in Michigan. She is the daughter of Ann, a former community activist, and Walter, a German-born lawyer and Holocaust survivor. Kron spent much of her childhood feeling like an outsider because of her religion and sexuality. She attended Kalamazoo College before moving to New York in 1984, where she found success as both an actress and playwright. Many of Kron’s plays draw upon her childhood experiences. She earned early praise for her autobiographical plays 2.5 Minute Ride and 101 Humiliating Stories. In 1989, Kron co-founded the OBIE Award-winning theater company The Five Lesbian Brothers, a troupe that used humor to produce work from a feminist and lesbian perspective. Her play Well, which she both wrote and starred in, opened on Broadway in 2006. Kron was nominated for the Best Actress in a Play Tony Award for her work. JEANINE TESORI is the most honored female composer in musical theatre history. Upon receiving her degree in music from Barnard College, she worked as a musical theatre conductor before venturing into the art of composing in her 30s.
