ENDEMIC PLANTS Croatia, Međimurje Kockavica (Snake's head fritillary) The flower has a chequered pattern in shades of purple. It flowers from March to May and grows between 15–40 cm in height. It is an endangered species. In Croatia, it grows only on the teritory of two municipalities within Regional park Mura-Drava in Međimurje: Donji Vidovec and Sveta Marija. We can find this kind of flower in the middle mountain of our region. It is protected and it is forbidden to pick them. The plant generally flowers from April to May when its pale yellow 2- 3cm flowers with their deep yellow centres decorate grassy banks, woodlands and roadsides. Each flower has its own leafless stalk. Primrose has quite large, crinkled leaves which can be up to 12cm long. Like Primula veris, the Primrose has two types of flower on each plant – thrum- eyed and pin- eyed.
