Yule Log We made a yule log for our family Christmas dessert. I say “we” although it was mostly me, because the other two helpers were Moses and Emiline. A yule log is a cake which is baked in a special big rectangular pan for just about twelve minutes. It only takes 12 minutes because the cake is so narrow. The cake first takes three eggs which are beaten and beaten and beaten until their volume is three times as bit as they were at the beginning. After that, you are supposed to very gently add flour and cornstarch and stir it carefully. Trying not to knock any of the air bubbles out, you then smooth it in the pan. It will only be about a half inch thick . Oops, I forbgot to tell you the most important step, which is to first butter your pan, put parchment ppaekr in the botton, butter the paper, and then flour the paper. This keeps the cake from stiking After the cake comes out of the oven, you quickly prepare a tea towel o th counter so that you can invert the cake into the towel. Speringke the towen with powdered sugar so that the cake son’t stick. In one swift motion, dump the cake onto the towl. Hopefully the cake will come out in one piece without any cracks. Next you sprinkle the cake with a bit of powedered sugar. Then begin rolling the towel and the cake together into a log. Ta da! The cake is hot, but this is okay because if it were cool it would not roll. Let the rolled cake cool completely for about 4 hours. Then, make the frosting; I used buttercream frosting. Unroll eh .
