Mom and Dad, you continually inspire me to achieve all that I can. ii Abstract Ericsson, Krampe, and Tesch-Römer (1993) forwarded a general framework to account for the characteristics and developmental experiences of individuals who have acquired exceptional performance in any domain. This framework proposed that experts undergo an extensive acquisition period involving the accumulation of thousands of hours of deliberate practice while overcoming various constraints that serve as functional barriers to the achievement of expertise. The purpose of this study was to examine expert disability-sport athletes to determine how well their experiences and characteristics were captured by Ericsson et al.’s (1993) framework. In Part I, quad rugby players recalled the amount of time spent in individual and team practice activities, quad rugby related activities, and daily life activities at the start of their career and every two years since. In Part II, these activities were rated with respect to relevance to improving performance, effort and concentration required, and enjoyment of participation. Findings revealed that quad rugby athletes engaged in similar amounts of practice throughout their career to those observed in superior performers across domains, including Ericsson et al.’s musicians and expert performers in the able-bodied sport domain (e.g., Helsen, Starkes, & Hodges, 1998). Contrary to the original deliberate practice framework as described by Ericsson et al. Received August 20, I960; revised September 16, 1960 ABSTRACT This paper constitutes an analysis of an extensive series of spectrograms of p Cassiopeiae taken by several observers principally with the 82-inch telescope of the McDonald Observatory both during and after the deep minimum in light of 1946. Identification measures by Tai and Thackeray before the minimum have been combined with detailed measures by the writer during and after the minimum, to form a catalogue of the spectral lines as seen on plates of medium dispersion. A group of 23 selected zero-volt lines were analyzed for radial-velocity and intensity changes. Although no change in radial velocity was detected, marked changes in intensity did occur. The hydrogen lines in p Cas in 1936 were found to be as strong as, or even stronger than, in ô CMa. Weakness of the hydrogen lines as early as 1939 may be evidence of spectral change leading up to the 1946 minimum. Evidence is cited for an over- lying shell in which the TiO is formed. Unlike RV Tauri stars, the spectral type from line ratios at minimum light was also M3. The spectral type after minimum varied progressively from K5p to G5p, even reaching F8p during the “flare-up” of 1950. The behavior of emission in the hydrogen and Ca I X 4227 lines is discussed, as well as the presence of a sharp absorption core in Ca I. This core also was probably due to an overlying shell.

    F6-13 202 (IBC [F] 202) Proposed Change as Submitted Proponent: Elley Klausbruckner representing Klausbruckner & Associates Inc ([email protected]) Revise as follows: SECTION 202 (IBC [F] 202) GENERAL DEFINITIONS FLAMMABLE SOLID. A solid, other than a blasting agent or explosive, that is capable of causing fire through friction, absorption of moisture, spontaneous chemical change or retained heat from manufacturing or processing, or which has an ignition temperature below 212°F (100°C) or which burns so vigorously and persistently when ignited as to create a serious hazard. A chemical shall be considered a flammable solid as determined in accordance with the test method of CPSC 16 CFR Part 1500.44, if it ignites and burns with a self-sustained flame at a rate greater than 0.1 0.0866 inch (2.5 mm 2.2 mm) per second along its major axis. Reason: The definition proposed is in line with GHS [Globally Harmonized System] which is now adopted by OSHA. When an MSDS is prepared today, a material classified as “Flammable Solids” is typically based on this definition and not the previous definition [existing language in the Fire Code].
