Introduction to Lei Yue Mun Park A Serene Oasis in the Urban Area The Lei Yue Mun Park of the Leisure and Cultural Services Department is located in Chai Wan, Hong Kong. Overlooking the Lei Yue Mun Channel and occupying an area of 22.97 hectares, it is the first holiday village in the urban area and has been opened for public use since 1988. Extensively grown with trees in the surroundings, the Park is tranquil and relaxing with beautiful landscape and an abundance of fresh air. It is an ideal place to relieve the stress of city life. (Hirers please note: Camp facilities, such as hostels, recreational facilities, canteen, etc., are located on different spots of a slope and connected by pavements.) Easily Accessible The Lei Yue Mun Park is situated between A Kung Ngam and Heng Fa Chuen in the Eastern District, Hong Kong. You can go to the Park from Chai Wan Road via a lane beside St. Mark’s Primary School and opposite the Shau Kei Wan Fire Station. If you travel by MTR, you can alight at Shau Kei Wan Station and either get a taxi or take a 30-minute walk to the Park. You can also take any public bus, maxicab or public light bus to Chai Wan, alight at Chai Wan Road and take a 10-minute walk to the Park. It is easily accessible and very convenient. Bus routes passing through Chai Wan Road are 8, 8X, 9, 14, 19, 81, 81A, 82, 82S, 780 and 780P. Cross- harbour bus routes are 106, 106P, 118, 606, 682, 682P and 694 and maxicab routes are 20, 65, 66 & 66A. Distinctive Hostels The six hostels in the Park are modeled on European architecture in early 20 th century . Each hostel has a distinctive and spacious balcony. There are four family hostels and two group hostels with a capacity of 282 campers. The family hostels, self-contained with bedrooms, shower rooms and toilets, can accommodate 232 campers . Air-conditioning is provided in summer (from 4pm to 8am on the following day from May to October). With a total of 12 bedrooms, the two group hostels can accommodate 30 and 20 campers respectively. They are equipped with public shower rooms with hot water supply and toilets. Revised_May 2019 1 Diversified Facilities Indoor facilities Indoor facilities include a recreation centre (with games rooms for archery, dance, indoor short mat bowling, arts and crafts, gateball, table-tennis, American pool, sports climbing, board games, air hockey and football games machines etc), a squash court, a children’s play house, a training centre with six classrooms, a general restaurant for 400 persons, a coffee corner with fast food kiosk and other rooms for karaoke, TV watching and reading. Outdoor facilities Outdoor facilities include a grass pitch for soccer, gateball and group fun games, a tennis court, a hard surface pitch for basketball, volleyball and cycling, an advanced rope course, a rope course for children, three children’s playgrounds, two barbecue areas and a number of sitting-out areas. There is also a horse riding school in the Park. Horticultural facilities There are many landscaped areas and horticultural facilities in the Park, including a scented garden, a nature trail, an orchid house, an African violet house and a demonstration nursery, providing an ideal place for nature and plant lovers. An exhibition hall with pictures and exhibits of common plant species in Hong Kong is provided in the horticultural centre for campers’ appreciation. Interesting and educational talks on horticulture are also held for campers from time to time. 2 Programme Guide Recreation and sports activities 1.     10 Additional MTR Stations and Vending Machines for Distributing COVID-19 Specimen Collection Packs

    PR086/20 18 December 2020 10 Additional MTR Stations and Vending Machines for Distributing COVID-19 Specimen Collection Packs The MTR Corporation set up vending machines at ten MTR stations for the public to collect COVID-19 specimen collection packs on 7 December 2020 and the arrangement has been smooth so far. To provide greater convenience to the community, following communication with relevant government departments, the distribution of specimen collection packs will be extended to ten more stations tomorrow (19 December 2020), making the packs available at 20 MTR stations. The ten additional stations are Shau Kei Wan, Wan Chai, Sai Ying Pun, Ho Man Tin, Prince Edward, Kai Tak, Wu Kai Sha, Tsuen Wan West, Sheung Shui and Tung Chung stations. The Corporation will continue to install more vending machines and targets to have two machines in each of the 20 stations by early 2021. The supply of the specimen collection packs by government contractor will be at about 14,000 packs per day and the amount will be suitably adjusted based on actual demand. The MTR Mobile and MTR website will continue to provide updates on the supply at stations. (Please refer to the annex for details about the locations of the vending machines.) Members of the public can scan the QR codes near the vending machines for information about returning the specimen collected. Notices about the designated General Out-patience Clinics of the Hospital Authority or clinics of the Department of Health accepting specimen collected near the relevant stations will also be on display. This paper is to brief Members on the latest amendments to the Approved Shau Kei Wan Outline Zoning Plan (OZP) No. S/H9/14 (renumbered as S/H9/15), in particular the imposition of building height restrictions on developments in the Shau Kei Wan area (the Area). Background 2. The draft Shau Kei Wan OZP No. S/H9/15 (Annex A) mainly incorporating building height restrictions for various development zones, was exhibited under section 5 of the Town Planning Ordinance on 7 November 2008 for a period of two months until 7 January 2009. Any person may make written representation in respect of the amendments to the OZP to the Secretary of the Town Planning Board (TPB) within the 2-month exhibition period. Incorporation of Building Height Restrictions 3. In the absence of building height restrictions, new developments will tend to be very tall and designed to maximize the façade with seaview. Excessively tall buildings protruding from an area of a generally low building profile could result in negative visual and air ventilation impacts. In the Area, there are already some developments which are rather tall and may not be conducive to a good urban form. Introduction Underground rapid transit system has become an essential element of urban citizens’ daily lives since the world’s first underground mass transportation system started operations in London in 1863. After 153 years of expansion, there are more than 150 subway systems in the world in the year of 2016, servicing commuters in New York, Beijing, Tokyo, Barcelona, Seoul and other major cities in the world (UITP statistics, 2015). Its high efficiency, large capacity and many other unique benefits enable subway system to become one of the most popular transportation modes in urban areas where residents spend an average of 1-2 hours (12.5%-25%) of a working day underground commuting to and from work (UITP statistics, 2015). Among the world’s busiest subway networks, Hong Kong’s Mass Transit Railway (MTR) system runs 20 hours and 8,000 train trips per day, with an average daily ridership of 4.69 million (Hong Kong Government stats, 2016). Since its first operation in 1979, MTR is by far the most popular transportation mode in Hong Kong, accounting for 41% of the total 12 million public transport passenger journeys made daily (Hong Kong Government stats, 2016).
