Ken was a long serving player with South Yarra Presbyterian, Punt Road Methodist, Toorak and Toorak-Prahran Cricket Clubs. He was a Life Member of Toorak and Toorak-Prahran Cricket Clubs. Ken represented South Suburban Churches Cricket Association at the Australian Churches Cricket Association Carnivals (ACCA) in Melbourne in 1976 and Brisbane in 1978. He was SDCCL manager for 1994 ACCA carnival in Melbourne. Ken then coached the SDCCL Under 12 Mitchell team from 1995 to 2000. In recognition of his contribution to SDCCL and its predecessors he was given SDCCL Life Membership in 2002. Ken also was Co-Coach of the Prahran Dowling Team 2004. It was fitting that one of the SDCCL Under 11 Saturday Shields was named the Ken Davis Shield. In 2017 Ken received recognition from Cricket Victoria for his 50 year contribution to cricket. Despite being diagnosed with motor neurone disease in 2016, Ken was still able to coach from his wheelchair during the season just finished. The Toorak-Prahran family lost one of its legends when Ken passed away on 6 May 2018. Below is a photo of Graeme Fischer, Ken Davis, John Wilson and Rob Ary of Toorak-Prahran Cricket Club in 2016/17 – all SDCCL Life Members. Inner South East Cricket PRESIDENT’S REPORT I am very proud to present the President’s report for season 2017-18 to our affiliated Clubs, past and present players, sponsors, parents, volunteers and supporters of the Inner South East Cricket (ISEC) league and the All Girls Cricket Competition (AGCC). In a year that has seen cricket in Australia face tremendous challenges both off the field, with initially the “players pay dispute” and most recently, on the field, with the “ball tampering incident”, Cricket Australia’s Purpose, to “Inspire everyone to love cricket” and Vision, of cricket being “Australian’s favourite Sport” has been questioned. The outcry on social media platforms (let alone the multitude of BBQ and Water Fountain debates) surrounding “ball tampering” illustrated that the game is always bigger than the individual, and that cricket is very much part of the Australian DNA. What other sport, in Australia, has 26 million selectors?? I see the role of the ISEC, AGCC and affiliated Club administrators, players, coaches, parents, volunteers and supporters, is to collaboratively work together, as custodians of the game, to not only innovate and progress but ensure the Spirit of Cricket is always upheld. This is and will always remain the corner stone of how ISEC and the AGCC administer your competitions. As per our Constitution (following the 2016-17 AGM), a new Committee was formed consisting of 11 volunteers to take administrative responsibility of our 116th season. I would like to acknowledge and thank them all for their tireless work and dedication throughout the season. Having been nominated for the inaugural Cricket Association of the Year, in the “A Sport for All Awards – Victoria”, ISEC and the AGCC continue to be acknowledged as two of the most progressive boys and girls junior leagues in Victoria and the work your committee does continues to strengthen that standing. The Committee consisted of the following people; John Ribbands – Vice President Neil Daly – Secretary Tim Boyce – Treasurer Peter Ciavarella – Junior Coordinator Libby Nicholas – Secretary All Girls Cricket Competition David Williams – Representative Teams Coordinator Ganesh Desai – Umpires Coordinator Phil Burns – Competition Coordinator Tom Facey - Competition Greg Hanson - Competition Michael Lawson - Competition I would like to specifically acknowledge our Secretary and ISEC Life Member, Neil Daly for his continued passion, support and tireless commitment to ensure ISEC provides the best competition it can provide. In addition, I would like to thank those committee Members, whose individual reports are enclosed, for taking stewardship of the specific portfolios on the committee. Following the success of last season’s experimental introduction of the new playing formats for an U11 competition, we introduced the new junior playing formats across all five U11 competitions and three U13 competitions in 2017-18. In addition, the AGCC introduced the new playing formats, Stage Inner South East Cricket 1 and Stage 2, for the 13 and under competitions as well. This meant some 587 boys and 233 girls played under the new formats during the season. The feedback we received from Clubs, coaches, players and parents regarding these new formats was overwhelmingly positive and we will continue to roll-out the new formats (Stages 1 and 2) across our competitions in the 2018-19 season. Although a strong supporter of the new formats and what they provide young boys and girls, their introduction creates one major logistical issue - Where do we find the ovals for these teams to play? This occurs as the new formats reduce the number of players per team which consequently increases the number of teams playing. With more teams playing we need more grounds on which to play. As you cannot just build new ovals, we looked at alternative options but clearly the option of utilising existing grounds with quality approved roll-out pitches, where 3-4 games could be played on a single oval at the same time, was the best solution. So, at ISEC’s instigation, and with the investment, support and understanding of the issue from Cricket Victoria, Cricket Australia and the City of Stonnington we were the first League in Australia to trial roll-out pitches for the new formats. We trialled the roll-out pitches at under 11 games on two “turf only” grounds, TH King and Waverley ovals on both Friday night and Saturday morning with great success. The success of these trials, we understand, will be used by Cricket Victoria and Cricket Australia to introduce roll-out pitches around the country, to ensure the major obstacle associated with the new formats is overcome. We thank Cricket Victoria, Cricket Australia and the City of Stonnington for their commitment to grass roots cricket and the community in which our Clubs serve.

Where sponsorship deals have not been reported, the Sponsorship Today team actively seeks data through web searches, annual financial reports and contacting sponsors, agencies and rights holders. Most sponsorship deals are not reported and, of those that are, the majority do not provide accurate fee or duration data. IMR estimates unreported fee values through comparisons with similar deals, contacts with industry insiders and through its long experience of creating sponsorship analysis reports. There is no guarantee of accuracy of estimates. The sponsorship industry is also known to overstate sponsorship fee values. Such reports are frequently based on the maximum potential value of a deal and might include the total should all incentive clauses (such as sporting success) be met and no morality clauses invoked.

Named after the Australian Kingfisher, this family owned business was founded in 1890 and is entrenched as one of the leading Australian hand-made cricket ball manufacturers. The Kookaburra Turf Cricket Ball has been used exclusively in Australia, New Zealand and South African Test Cricket since 1946 and the Dimple hockey ball has been used in Olympic Games since 1984. It is the only ball recommended by the Federation Internationale de Hockey. In addition to its Australian operations housing over 60 employees, Kookaburra has offices in the United Kingdom, New Zealand, South Africa, and India. Proprietary of PENKO/ETC – In agreement with Kookaburra and Ward MHS THE PROBLEM Cricket is also known as the “Gentlemen’s game” where innings are interrupted for “Tea”. The ball is anything but gentle. Its core is made of a cork and rubber covered by many layers of cork and tightly wound wool, and finally covered with a highly polished leather casing. Made entirely of natural materials, balls will vary in size, structure and – of course in weight. Leather is never of consistent thickness, even when taken from the same hide. The outer cover of a ball is made up of 2 pieces selected on bases of similar quality and are hand sewn together.
