Barclays invited the Council to consider applying for funds because they regarded the BMX track as a success endorsing the decision to award the original grant. The Parish Council has been working with Natasha Bonser and Arthur Hetherington from the Brampton BMX club to look at ways the track could be improved without compromising the Council's original intention for the track to be able to be used as 'open access' for local young people. The work will involve;- Fitting a 4 person Barrel starting gate so that weekly coaching sessions on the Council the project is now about 4 months later than use of the gate can be provided for local users of the track and then running fun the original plan and as a result it has been decided races and competitive events after riders have been trained in the use of the gate to hold an opening event in the Spring of next year. Altering part of the track to bring it up to current standards for casual and Allotments News A few years ago the Council developed a dedicated area of the allotments to provide a number of raised beds following some interest from local schools and the Brampton Youth Group to use the facility. Due to operational reasons the interest from the schools as waned but the Youth Group had been still using the allotments for 3 months in the summer until last year. The Parish Council was keen to ensure that this particular area of the allot- ments continued to provide specialist use and consulted the Westfield Allotment Society for their views on the matter. As a result and following some minor upgrading work, the area is now used by two disabled Parishioners. One of the tenants had been trying to cultivate a standard plot but now finds it Pictured are: Councillor Frank Hodgkiss (Chair of Parish much easier to maximise the use of allotments with the advantage of working Council), James Gosling (Allotment Tenant) and Neil with raised beds.
