Parish Registers and Transcripts in the Norfolk Record Office This list summarises the Norfolk Record Office’s (NRO’s) holdings of parish (Church of England) registers and of transcripts and other copies of them. Parish Registers The NRO holds registers of baptisms, marriages, burials and banns of marriage for most parishes in the Diocese of Norwich (including Suffolk parishes in and near Lowestoft in the deanery of Lothingland) and part of the Diocese of Ely in south-west Norfolk (parishes in the deanery of Fincham and Feltwell). Some Norfolk parish records remain in the churches, especially more recent registers, which may be still in use. In the extreme west of the county, records for parishes in the deanery of Wisbech Lynn Marshland are deposited in the Wisbech and Fenland Museum, whilst Welney parish records are at the Cambridgeshire Record Office. The covering dates of registers in the following list do not conceal any gaps of more than ten years; for the populous urban parishes (such as Great Yarmouth) smaller gaps are indicated. Whenever microfiche or microfilm copies are available they must be used in place of the original registers, some of which are unfit for production. A few parish registers have been digitally photographed and the images are available on computers in the NRO's searchroom. The digital images were produced as a result of partnership projects with other groups and organizations, so we are not able to supply copies of whole registers (either as hard copies or on CD or in any other digital format), although in most cases we have permission to provide printout copies of individual entries. -

Conformity with the Statement of 16 Community Involvement Breckland Local Plan Consultation Statement 1 1 Introduction 1.1 This statement of consultation will be submitted to the Secretary of State as part of the examination of the Breckland Local Plan. The statement sets out the information required under Regulation 22 (c) of the Town and Country Planning (Local Planning) (England) Regulations 2012. This statement shows: Who was consulted; How they have been consulted; A summary of the issues raised How issues have been addressed within the Local Plan. 1.2 The 2012 Local Planning Regulations sets out the stages of consultation that a Local Plan is required to go through prior to its submission to the Secretary of State. These are: Regulation 18: a consultation whereby the local authority notifies of their intention to prepare a Local Plan and representations are invited about what the Local Plan should contain Regulation 19: prior to submitting the Local Plan to the Secretary of State, the proposed submission document is made available to the general consultation bodies and the specific consultation bodies. 1.3 In accordance with the regulations and Breckland's Statement of Community Involvement, the Local Plan has been subjected to a number of consultation periods. Introduction 1.1 This consultation statement is prepared in pursuance of Section 15(1)(b) of The Neighbourhood Planning (General) Regulations 2012 (as amended) to accompany the Ryburgh Neighbourhood Plan (RNP) upon submission to the North Norfolk District Council. 1.2 “Consultation Statement” for this purpose is defined (S15 (2)) as a document which – - Contains details of the persons and bodies who were consulted about the proposed neighbourhood development plan - Explains how they were consulted - Summarises the main issues and concerns raised by the persons consulted and - Describes how those issues and concerns have been considered and, where relevant, addressed in the proposed neighbourhood development plan. 2. Organisational Structure 2.1 The RNP has been developed by a Working Group comprised of parish councillors, representatives nominated by key stakeholders in the village and villagers. The work of the Working Group has been overseen throughout by the Ryburgh Parish Council. The persons attending the Working Group have changed somewhat over the course of the four years it has taken to reach the stage of submission of the RNP. -

Burnham and Walsingham Deanery Audit January 2012 Burnham and Walsingham Deanery Audit 1 Introduction The Rural Dean, Bishop Norman Banks, commissioned a Deanery Audit to present an overview of the Deanery. It would reflect the Deanery’s strengths as well as areas for development and show what the parishes were doing to further God’s mission. Data were collected with a questionnaire to all parishes requesting information for the period August 2009 to July 2011. The majority of parishes returned information. Other data included photographs of Harvest Festivals in 2011 to provide a ‘snapshot’ of activity across the Deanery. The overall aims of the audit were to: provide an overall picture of the Deanery identify opportunities for collaboration between benefices provide adequate information for informed forward planning. Incumbents were invited to nominate an individual from whom information about the parish was to be collected in the questionnaire. In total there are 41 parishes divided into the following groups1: Burnham Market - Burnham Market, Burnham Overy, Burnham Sutton cum Ulph, Burnham Thorpe. Coxford Group - East Raynham, East Rudham, Helhoughton, Houghton next Harpley, South Raynham, Tatterford, Tattersett. Fakenham - Fakenham with Alethorpe. Hempton - Hempton with Pudding Norton. Stephen Nunn i Abstract Conventionally, historians of the Second World War have focussed on political strategies, military operations, social and individual oral histories. Despite a vast secondary literature, investigations relating to landscapes of the era, other than in terms of theatres of war, are few. This thesis brings a landscape history perspective to studying the impact that the war, and particularly the military, had on the landscape and working lives of people in one English county. Landscape history is the study of the effect of human activity upon the natural environment; how communities, agriculture, industry and commerce have changed the places in which people live and work. The landscape provides opportunity and constraint; it may facilitate or complicate human endeavour. The approach benefits from its inter-disciplinary nature, being most closely associated with archaeology but crossing into social and cultural history, ecology, geology and environmental studies. -
