Everyone is certain that we must grow our economy to succeed. So what is going to prevent this happening on a sustainable basis, especially in a globalised market place where India wants your lunch and China wants your dinner? Lord Digby Jones will explore some of these issues, from our education system not being fit for purpose to unintelligent Government procurement, from suffocating, systemic, regulatory risk-aversion to an anti-business societal mood music that celebrates entrepreneurship in individual personality and suspects and decries it in its success. He will also provide examples of staggering global success in innovation and value-added manufacturing and service provision. Can we succeed? Without doubt he says, if...!
