    04/10/13: Great Britain’s Ruby Harrold and Rebecca Tunney placed 17th and 19th in the women’s all-around final at the 2013 Artistic Gymnastics World Championship in Antwerp. Both girls, competing in their first World Championships, were hampered by problems on beam early on in a competition that was won by American Simone Biles (60.212) from teammate Kyla Ross (59.332) with Russia’s Aliya Mustafina taking the bronze (58.856). The British girls were in the same group and began on the beam. Rebecca had a long wait on the podium to begin her routine, starting with round-off straight she couldn’t quite stick the landing and fell; a good double pike dismount scored her 11.966. Ruby followed up and unfortunately also had difficulties, her flick layout was out of line and she couldn't hold on and with another fall on her change ring she scored 11.066. On the floor Rebecca stepped out on the first of her explosive tumbles but fought back beautifully to perfectly stick her remaining passes ending with double pike and scoring 13.000. Ruby produced an outstanding floor routine, the huge crowd clapping her along, she landed each of her tumbles dead to score her an impressive 13.700. On vault both girls performed the double twisting Yurchenko, Rebecca landing perfectly to score 14.866 and Ruby, with a small pace back scored 13.900. Finally on bars, Rebecca Tunney started off well but couldn’t quite make it over giant half and fell, she jumped back up to finish strongly for 13.033 and a total of 52.865.

The British men’s team includes 2014 all-around British, Commonwealth and European Champion Max Whitlock, alongside his English Commonwealth gold medal teammates Nile Wilson and Kristian Thomas. Commonwealth parallel bars Champion for Scotland Daniel Purvis also takes a spot, as does his teammate 2014 Commonwealth pommel horse Champion Daniel Keatings and double junior European Champion Courtney Tulloch. The reserve is 2012 Junior European Champion Frank Baines.     Britain’s gymnasts have once again made history as the men’s team of Max Whitlock, Louis Smith MBE, Kristian Thomas, Nile Wilson, Brinn Bevan and Daniel Purvis have taken silver at the 2015 World Gymnastics Championships at the Hydro Arena in Glasgow, our greatest ever artistic gymnastics World Championships team result. The GB men, who have never taken a world team medal, finished with 270.345, just 0.473 behind the newly crowned champions Japan (270.818) and 0.386 ahead of former world champions China (269.959). The silver medal was sealed with the last performances of the championships as the Hydro Arena awaited the placing’s, finally the scoreboard revealing the result and again confirming Great Britain’s standing amongst the best teams in world gymnastics The British men’s competition got off to great start with Louis Smith performing a difficult pommel routine under the pressure of opening the campaign scoring 15.333. Brinn Bevan’s huge shout of “come on” to the crowd showed how happy he was with his pommel with Max Whitlock last up produced an outstanding routine for our top score of 15.700.   • British Boys Take European Championship
    Great Britain’s junior male gymnasts have once again proved their dominance of European gymnastics by claiming their fourth straight European team title. Brinn Bevan, Nile Wilson, Giarnni-Regini Moran and Joe Fraser put in outstanding performances to score 254.094 for gold ahead of Russia in silver scoring 252.395. The success continues a trend starting back in 2008 when the likes of Olympians Sam Oldham, Dan Purvis and Dan Keatings helped GBR to their first junior title which was again matched in 2010 and 2012. Each of the British boys contributed great routines, small mistakes on pommel horse, the only errors in a fantastic competition. Competing alongside the Russians the British boys always led and despite the late falls they easily took the gold. It was Nile Wilson, the 2012 European junior all-around silver medal winner, who led the way performing superbly on all six apparatus to score 85.565 points for the team, the highest all-around score of the event qualifying him confidently through to Friday’s final. Brinn Bevan will join Nile in the all-around final after also completing a fault free competition for GBR scoring 83.856 for third. Nile described the boys' pride afterwards saying: “This is my second European junior team title and its very special. To continue the gold medal tradition in this event had its pressure but we all stood up to the challenge and we are very proud to have kept on that run for our country. We have worked very, very hard for this and it showed today as all the boys put in the performances.
