VIRTUAL VOLUNTEERING What does “Virtual Volunteering” mean? It means volunteering from your home (or other) with your computer on your time from anywhere in the state. These opportunities provide individuals who may not be available during the day to support Rocky Mountain PBS and/or KUVO through volunteering. (However, if you would like to volunteer and come into the station, that is certainly possible.) In this next year, we look forward to developing these opportunities further. 1. The Great American Read CARPE LIBER! Leading the way on “Virtual Volunteering” --- volunteer anytime from anyplace! RMPBS will test-drive a “virtual volunteering” experiment by developing a simple social media toolkit for volunteers to promote the next incredible nationwide PBS initiative: The Great American Read. Volunteers will use their community, business and personal connections to promote this initiative. And, this initiative is all about reading and books and conversation. Volunteers and their social networks should join in the fun playing bingo and voting for their favorite book by going to www.rmpbs.org/greatamericanread . The list of the 100 books is located on this website. This list makes for some great reading and conversations with friends and members of book groups. In the Fall, the Great American Read series will run on RMPBS air (see schedule below) where individuals will talk about the books that have impacted their lives and, additionally, the winning book will be announced. Let your friends and neighbors know! Viewing Schedule (Mark your calendar!) “Fall Kick Off” Join host Meredith Vieira in the search for America’s best-loved novel.
