Teachers Notes:

Task 1: Predict the Story: In pairs, students predict the story using the 6 keywords/phrases from the film. Beforehand, elicit ‘modals of deduction’ and ensure students know how to use them.

Task 2: Using Images: With the same partner, students now use the images to help them retell the story. This is another opportunity for them to use ‘modals of deduction’.

Task 3: The Trailer Watch the following trailer of ‘WolfWalkers’ with the class. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=d_Z_tybgPgg

Give students a few minutes to discuss their ideas from the previous tasks. Were they right in their predictions on the storyline?

Answers to questions based on the trailer.

1. What is the job of the hunter? to ‘wipe out’ the wolves 2. What is a wolfwalker? Person by day / wolf by night. People turn into wolves during the night. 3. Why does Robyn want to protect the wolves? She has formed a friendship with Mebh, one of the wolfwalkers.

Task 4: Reading Assign students as Student A and Student B for this task. If in the classroom, provide the handouts to the students. If teaching online, you could send the handouts before the lesson and use breakout rooms to carry out this task. An alternative would be to assign this task as a paired homework activity where students arrange to meet online to carry out the task. Task 5: Self-Study Task

Ask students to watch the trailer for another animated film on YouTube and write a review based on the trailer. This could then be shared with classmates.
