PITSFORD NEWS August—October 2020 From the Editorial Team… When we committed to producing a Newsletter for August, it’s fair to say that were weren’t expecting to have a lot to put in it. With many places closed and socialising limited to zoom meetings, telephone calls or for those who were lucky enough to be able to get outside, chatting across the road or over garden fences to friends and neighbours, we weren’t really expecting very much to report. Well, as usual Pitsford people have come up trumps! Folk have been working away behind the scenes and our community spirit remains unscathed. This month’s edition seems bigger than ever and is full of achievements, positive news and plans for the future. Our next edition will be in November and we hope to have more news of events and meetings that you can enjoy. Our last edition was only available online and we know that some people are unable to access the internet, so this month we are making a limited number of copies available in the phone box, the Church and the pub. There have been some major changes recently to how council services are being delivered in your area – and we’d like to know how to keep you updated with news and information about them. Your new West Northamptonshire Council (WNC) launched in April, replacing the previous councils covering Daventry, Northampton and South Northamptonshire and bringing services for all these areas under one roof, from housing, planning, highways and bin collections to education, social care and public health. It’s a bright new start with a fresh vision to make West Northamptonshire a great place to live, work, visit and thrive and it’s really important that we keep you informed and engaged on what we’re doing and how you access all the services we provide. We need to review and develop how we share our news and information with you and would be grateful if you complete this survey to help us do this – it shouldn’t take long and the information you provide will help shape how we make improvements to this. The Design Statement was initiated, funded and supported by Creaton Parish Council but was prepared by an independent team of volunteers in consultation with all households in the village and the Local Planning Authority. A workshop and consultation/exhibition day were held to ensure that local knowledge, views and ideas were included in this document and represent those of the village. The Design Statement aims to make sure that the local distinctiveness and character of Creaton is taken into consideration when local planning decisions are being taken. Change is brought about not only by large developments, but also by the smaller day-to-day adjustments to homes and gardens, open spaces, paths and hedges, which alter the look and feel of the whole village. The Design Statement sets out the principles, design features and quality standards that should be taken into account by those wishing to build, modify or extend property in the parish of Creaton.
