3 INTRODUCTION

A BACKGROUND Karauli lies in the north eartern part of . The predecessor state of princely state of Karauli, the kingdom of Mathura, was founded about 995 by Raja Bijai Pal a Yaduvanshi Rajpur ruler. During the 18th century Karauli was under the Maratha Empire untill the Marathas were defeated by the British. In 1817, Karauli ruler signed a treaty with the east Company and became a British protectorate, the status was maintained till the Independece of India in 1947.

After India's Independece in 1947, the state under Maharaja Ganesh Pal Deo acceded to the dominition of India on 7 April 1949: Karauli later merged with the Union of India and became part of the state of Rajasthan. On 1st March 1997 established Karauli district which include five Tehsils of . B LOCATION Karauli lies in the north eastern part of Rajasthan, stretching between 26⁰ 02' to 27⁰ North Latitude & 76⁰ 28' to 77⁰ 25' East longitude, having an average altitude of 260 meters above sea level. It is bounded on west by , South west by Sawai Madhopur, North east by and North-east Bharatpur and East by state of . The main river of the state, separates the district from Madhya Pradesh.

C CLIMATE POSTION Karauli has distinct winter, summer and monsoon (July to September) with subtropical dry climate. Average rainfall is 700 mm. Temperature touches 49.0⁰ C in summers whereas 2.0⁰ C in winters.

D Population According to the 2011 census Karauli district has a Population of 14,58,459. The district has a poplulation density of 264 inhabitants per square kilometer. It's population growth rate over the decade 2001-2011 was 20.57%. Karauli has a sex ratio of 858 females for every 1000 males. and a literacy rate of 67.34%. E NECESSITY : This proposed Submersible Bridge shall improve connectivity, and will ensure safe & continuous movement of people through out the year except during high flood which shall result in improved economic activities in the area also. Submersible Bridge at one hand controls cost of the Project on the other hand has utility through major part of the Year

4 BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF DETAILED TECHNICAL PROPOSALS:- (a) It is proposed to provide 72.0 m length of Submersible bridge (9 numbers spans of length 8.00m C/C) on Chota Bhagula Side and 104.0 m length of Bridge (13 spans of length 8.00 m c/c) on Bada Bhagula side . The FRL of proposed bridge is kept as 98.00 m.

(b) The RCC retun wall is also proposed near Abutments for protection of approaches. (c) Detailed estimated cost of this proposal is based on PWD BSR Circle Karauli 2018

5 BASIC ENGINEERING DATA AND ANALYSIS Detailed survey for the project was carried out and following drawings and data have been prepared. (a) Cross sections of the river at the proposed bridge site, 150 U/s side and 1800m D/s of the proposed bridge site. (b) Longitudinal section of ground along proposed alignment. (c) Longitudinal section of the river bed along direction of flow. (d) Drawings showing H.F.L. and extent of spread of water during H.F.L. (e) Hydraulic Data

A TOPOGRAPHIC SURVEY : (a) Establishment of temporary Bench Marks (b) Total Station traverse (c) Leveling (d) Detailed Survey and rendering (e) Preparation of Longitudinal section of the river

(g) Preparation of Cross sections of the river at bridge site, 150m up stream & 1800m downstream side of the proposed site. (h) Preparation of Base Plan

B MATERIAL SURVEY : In order to identify the available resources for construction activities such as stone crusher aggregates etc., it is found that most of the construction material is easily available in near by areas.

C SUB SOIL INVESTIGATION : The sub soil investigations were also carried at each abutment location and the foundations are designed for a Safe Bearing Capacity 50 t/m2 .

6 SELECTION OF STRUCTURE SYSTEM FOR BRIDGE AND APPROACH PORTION

A TYPE OF STRUCTURE : Considering all merits and demerits including economics of various options,a Submersible Bridge with superstructure consisting of RCC solid slab has been provided. Effective span is 8.00m provides and FRL has been kept as 98.0 m. It is a two lane bridge having carriageway as 7.5m width without footpath.The bridge is designed for one lane of class 70R Tracked /wheeled vehicles or Two lanes of class A loading, whichever is critical. R.C.C. Piers/Abutment and open foundation with suitable reinforcement are proposed for sub structure .

Submersible Bridge consisting of 9 spans along chota Baghula & 13 Spans along Bada Baghula with 8.00 m c/c RCC solid slab has been proposed. The foundations of piers and abutments are proposed to be anchored in the rock. Reinforcement of pier is also proposed to be anchored with the Deck so as to prevent any uplift in case of submergence

7 SPECIFICATIONS :

A BRIDGE PORTION Following specifications have been adopted for Bridge portion (a) Super Structure Soild Slab : R.C.C. Grade M30 Wearing Coat : 75 mm R.C.C. Grade M30 Railing : R.C.C Post Bearings : Tar paper bearing (b) Sub Structure : Pier caps & Abutment caps/ Piers & Abutments in R.C.C. Grade M25 Wing wall in R.C.C. in M25 Weep holes of 150mm dia A.C. pipes, 1 meter c/c staggered in both directions of abutments.

(c) Foundation : Open foundation : RCC M25 grade

B APPROACHES : Ideally the CC pavement & RCC wall should be taken for a length so as to exist beyond HFL level. But due to fund limitation the Total length of Retaining wall has been taken 20 m on Chota Bhagula side & 20 on Bada Bhagula side. Total length of apparaches has been taken 40 m on Chota Bhagula side and 50 m on Bada Bhagula side. The remaing part of approaches and the road may further be taken up in future. The following Specifications are taken for approaches adjoining to abutment.

8 DESIGN AND ESTIMATION :

A DESIGN : The structural design of bridge was awarded to M/s Thoughts Consultants Jaipur Pvt Ltd. and the Design Report submitted by Consultant is placed at Annexure 'A'

B ESTIMATION OF QUANTITIES : The estimation of Quantities for various items of the work has been carried out in four parts. Part A : Bridge work, Part B : Bridge Approaches Part C : Non BSR Items

The estimated cost of work is Rs Lacs 926.6 only.

C RATES : The Estimate has been prepared on the bases of PWD BSR Circle Karauli 2018

9 AGENCY FOR EXECUTION : The work should be executed through open Tender Process through the agencies which have experience of successful completion of such Projects.
