Umetnika je v šestdesetih in sedemdesetih letih pritegnilo delo z videom, ker je bilo poceni in preprosto za reprodukcijo in distribucijo; zdaj video umetnost postaja v svetu umetnosti vse bolj del ekonomije dragocenih predmetov. EVR raziskuje procese kroženja in distribucije video umetnosti. DEF_EVR BROCHURE_live.indd 2 11/11/11 8:40 AM EVR Ljubljana starting on 26. 11. 2011 open every day except monday from 10 am till 6 pm Lending policy: the videos can be borrowed free of charge by evr members e-flux video rental (EVR) is an art project conceived by Anton Vidokle and Julieta Aranda comprising a free video rental, a public screening room, and a film and video archive. This collection of more than 950 works of film and video art has been assembled in collaboration with over 130 international artists, curators and critics. Originally started in New York in 2004 at a small storefront space located at 53 Ludlow Street, EVR has been presented in Amsterdam, Berlin, Boston, Frankfurt, Seoul, Istanbul, Canary Islands, Austin, Budapest, Antwerp, Paris, Lyon, Lisbon, Miami and Rome. With its presentation in each new location, EVR was expanding its inventory to include new selections by local curators / artists / writers. In the 1960s and 1970s, artists were drawn to working with video because it was cheap to use and easily reproduced and distributed. But video art has become increasingly assimilated into the precious-object economy of the art world. EVR is an exploration of the processes of circulation and distribution of video art and is structured to function like a regular video store, except that it operates for free. VHS tapes can be watched in the space or, once a viewer fills out a membership form and contract, they can be checked out and taken home. In 2010 the artists donated the work to Moderna galerija. From November 2011 on the project will be presented as a part of collection exhibition at the Museum of Contemporary Art Metelkova in Ljubljana.
