In this publication, Bishop David Zac Niringiye pleads, as Jesus warned, that we should not be in haste to conclude that any community with religious titles or forms and who speaks the right language of ‘Lord, Lord . ’ is authentic church. Taking his cue from Hebrews 11 and 12 the author addresses the motif of ‘the people of God’, looking first at the ancient people of Israel, beginning with Moses, then the new Israel and the covenant in Christ, born through the Holy Spirit at Pentecost and finally the life of the new community, the church, during the apostolic era. Part of the Global Christian Library Series. See Page 10. LL Price: £4.00 Exploring Parables in Luke Integrated Skills for ESL/EFL Students of Theology Cheri Pierson, Will Bankston and Marilyn Lewis 2014, LGL, 9781783689408, Paperback, 204 pages, 244 x 170mm It is no easy task to move from a general English proficiency to navigating the specialized English of theological resources. In addition to linguistic challenges, theology students with English as a second or foreign language face difficult concepts and different ways of thinking. In response, Exploring Parables in Luke aims to help such students more effectively engage with the literature of their field. Chapter by chapter, as students work to interpret Jesus’ parables in light of his person and work, they will grow in both their English and theological proficiency. As a result, students will be better able not only to access English language theological libraries, but also to contribute to them.
