General Motors GM Communications Oshawa, Ontario of Canada Company media.gm.ca GM Canada Sales Grow 1.5 Per Cent in 2016 GM Canada delivered 267,341 vehicles in 2016, an increase of 1.5 per cent over 2015 Chevrolet sales are up 1.8 per cent in 2016 - its best year since 2008 Buick sales are up 14.8 per cent in 2016 - its best year in a decade GMC sales, while down 1.3 per cent for the year, posted its second best sales year since 2000 Cadillac had its best retail sales performance ever, up 2.1 per cent - its fourth consecutive year of retail growth Oshawa, Ontario (January 4, 2017) — Chevrolet, Buick, GMC and Cadillac dealers delivered 267,341 vehicles in 2016, an increase of 1.5 per cent and and 4,006 more vehicles than in 2015. GM Canada’s retail sales for 2016, were 201,514, an increase of 3.8 per cent, marking the first time GM Canada has exceeded 200,000 in retail sales with only four brands. In the month of December, total GM sales were 18,129 deliveries. John Roth, vice-president, sales, service and marketing for GM Canada said, “2016 was a year of solid sales growth and builds a foundation for 2017 as we move into a year with several new vehicle launches including the all-new Chevrolet Bolt and Equinox.” 2016 Brand Sales Highlights: Chevrolet cars retails sales were up 12.2 per cent, making Chevrolet the fastest growing car brand in Canada in 2016 Chevrolet trucks including crossovers total sales were up 3.1 per cent, with retail sales up 2.0 per cent The Chevrolet Volt retail sales were up 133 per cent and the all-new Chevrolet Bolt EV was named Motor Trend’s Car of the Year Buick’s growth was led by the popular SUV segment with total sales up 23 per cent and retail sales up 14.6 per cent led by the Encore and Enclave The all-new 2017 Buick LaCrosse was named the Automobile Journalists Association of Canada’s “Best New Large Premium Car” in December GMC’s retail sales were driven by strong pickup sales including Yukon/Yukon XL up 73.7 per cent and Canyon up 29.5 per cent Cadillac’s retail performance was driven by XT5/SRX up 57 per cent year-over-year and Escalade up 229 per cent year-over-year Steve Carlisle, president and managing director for GM Canada said, “In addition to our strong sales performance in 2016, GM Canada is leading the way in an automotive future that will be electric, connected, autonomous and shared.” This year, GM Canada has made great strides towards that future: The Chevrolet Volt is the electric vehicle sales leader for the fourth consecutive year GM has the most connected vehicles on the road in Canada with 4G LTE, at approximately 500,000 units GM is a leading automaker working on autonomous vehicle development in Canada GM Canada has established its Maven car sharing services in Canada and will be expanding in 2017 About GM in Canada Headquartered in Oshawa, Ontario, General Motors of Canada Company employs more than 8,400 people across the country and is a recognized leader in green manufacturing.
