understand the resurrection, at least not this side of heaven.

I think we believe that we should understand, and maybe we even nod our head and say, “Amen, amen,” as if it’s all perfectly clear, and yet the truth is that none of it is clear, none of it makes sense from our human perspective. We have to take it on faith; there’s no other way. That means believing in something we do not fully understand with our heads but know without question in the depths of our heart. Like Mary of Magdala, we run to the Lord and then cry out in confusion when we don’t find him where he is supposed to be, when we don’t hear his answer to our prayers. Today, on Easter, we rejoice in Christ’s victory over Easter Morning by He Qi the cross and joyfully embrace the unearned gift of Jesus’ resurrection and our salvation, letting our confusion and doubt slip below the surface as the This Side of Heaven waters of new life wash over us. Intellectual Mary DeTurris Poust, Give Us This Day, April 2017 understanding is not necessary after all. We are pilgrims on a journey with no end. “For they did not yet understand the Scripture that he had to rise from the dead.” I take such comfort in Mary DeTurris Poust is director of these closing words of today’s Gospel. No Gloom in the Tomb

Happy Easter! This is Margaret with a prayer that this Easter will be your most amazing celebration ever! As I reflected on Easter this year, my favorite Bible verse came to mind, “I came so that they might have life and have it more abundantly.” (John 10:10) The message of Easter is not one of gloom and doom, but of victory and hope. If you or I have never experienced the hope and victory that Jesus won, we need to ask ourselves, “Why not?”

I don’t know about you, but sometimes I lose sight of the eternal goal while I’m being attacked by several short term worries. Has this ever happened to you? A friend of mine often reminds me, “I lost the battle, but I haven’t lost the war. However, it’s also true about our spiritual lives as well. On some days, I may not feel like I’m living the full victory that Jesus has won for me. But just because I don’t feel it, doesn’t mean it’s not true!

We may have many worries, and even some very reasonable ones; however, let’s make sure to keep our eyes fixed on our final goal and the unchanging truth of God’s love for us. With Jesus at our side, we can lose a battle and still win the war! ************************************************************************************************** Speaking of abundant life, we now have 13 children enrolled in our Pre-School Program! We meet in Café Carmel every Sunday during the 10:30 AM Mass. Here are a few pictures from the Peanut Gallery.
