EDWARD EAGLES 7:30 PM when the Vikings welcome perennial power St. Edward. 15 TRINITY TROJANS ** 7:00 PM 16 at Benedictine Bengals 7:00 PM VASJ got a big weekend out of senior Sherman Dean, who hit seven 3s in the first half of a win over Jefferson 22 at Louisville St. Thomas Aquinas Knights ** 7:00 PM (WV). 23 WILLOUGHBY CORNERSTONE CHRISTIAN PATRIOTS 7:30 PM 29 VALLEY CHRISTIAN SCHOOL EAGLES ** 7:00 PM Sophomore Jerry Higgins continues to impress, particularly on defense and running the offense. Jacob Stauffer,l 30 LUTHERAN EAST FALCONS 7:30 PM Kevin Roberts and freshman Alonzo Gaffney are players to watch for the Vikings. Warren JFK is struggling with a new-look roster this season. For the second time in the past seven years, the FEBRUARY Eagles were crowned district champs last March after they defeated Cornerstone Christian (53-40) on March 13 5 at Warren John F. Flannery’s son, Sean, is a talented 5-foot-9 guard who helped lead the Eagles past highly regarded Medina in a Scholastic Play By Play Classic game at Baldwin-Wallace. “We are the type of team that can probably lose to anybody if we’re not shooting well, but we also can beat anybody if we get our pace going,” Eric Flannery said. FOLLOW THE VIKINGS Tommy Schmock scored a game-high 24 points, Danny Chambers added 16 and the Eagles hit 10 3s. They also assisted on 12 of 22 baskets with Sean Flannery’s five assists heading that effort in the win over Medina. @babekwas @vasjbasketball St. Edward (5-3) emerged from its holiday visit to Myrtle Beach, S.C., a deeper team. Conference North Coast League (White Division) Enrollment 314 (co-educational) An area native who grew up in Euclid and the North Collinwood area of Cleveland Colors Columbia Blue and Scarlett Red (he attended both Holy Cross and St. Jerome grade schools), Osborne has been a Nickname Vikings steadfast supporter of St. Joseph and VASJ for many years and served as chairman of the school’s Board of Advisors from 2009 to 2011.     According to guidelines set forth by the North Coast League, schools are to charge adults $7 and K-12 students/senior citizens $5 at the door for JV/varsity league soccer and volleyball matches. The North Coast League gives schools the opportunity to sell pre-sale tickets which allows the visiting school to sell tickets at a discounted rate for road contests. As an incentive, schools selling the pre-sale tickets get to keep the pre-sale money. Pre-sale tickets for road league games can be purchased at any point in the athletic office but you have an opportunity to buy in advance by filling out the form on page two. By making a pre-sale purchase, you’ll save a $1 per ticket per game and Beaumont School will bring in revenue for road games that would otherwise benefit the host school.   • According to Guidelines Set Forth by the North Coast League, Schools
    According to guidelines set forth by the North Coast League, schools are to charge adults $7 and K-12 students/senior citizens $5 at the door for JV/varsity league basketball games. The North Coast League gives schools the opportunity to sell pre-sale tickets which allows the visiting school to sell tickets at a discounted rate for road contests. As an incentive, schools selling the pre-sale tickets get to keep the pre-sale money. Pre-sale tickets for road league games can be purchased at any point in the athletic office but you have an opportunity to buy in advance by filling out the form on page two. By making a pre-sale purchase, you’ll save a $1 per ticket per game and Beaumont School will bring in revenue for road games that would otherwise benefit the host school. The class of prospective incoming freshman and transfer students already enrolled at NDC marks the program's fourth since being launched in November 2008. “We were able to really focus in on a number of targeted needs, and we wound up with a class we’re thrilled with,” said Howard. The class is comprised of players from seven states - in addition to a wellspring of talent culled from the Buckeye State, Notre Dame recruited student-athletes from Florida, Indiana, Kentucky, Maryland, Michigan and Pennsylvania.     Northeast Ohio Baseball Coaches Association Hall of Fame Biographies Class of 2008 Curt Kapinski – Elyria High School Curt is a 1968 graduate of Keystone HS and a 1972 graduate of Baldwin Wallace College where he earned 4 varsity baseball letters, All-District honors, national rankings as a collegiant pitcher, and a place in BW's College Hall of Fame. Curt signed as a free agent with the Cleveland Indians. After 2 1/2 years in the Indian's minor league system, both his arm and professional career ended. Curt began his teaching/coaching career in 1974 as the JV coach at Elyria. In 1979, he became the assistant coach at Oberlin College and then the head coach in 1984. He returned to Elyria and became their head coach in 1988-2004. In his 17 seasons in leading the Pioneers, his teams posted a 236- 148 record with 6 league championships, 5 district appearances, 3 Regional tourneys and a trip to the Final 4. Curt helped form the Lorain County Baseball Coaches Association and served as its treasurer for 16 years. In 1997, he help in the creation of the Northeast Ohio Baseball Coaches Association, and was its Executive Director from 1998-2004. In 1997, Curt became the OHSBCA state poll director. He is married to Becky and has two sons, Chris and Dave and two stepsons, Tim and Andy. Mike Ryan – Perry High School Mike began teaching at Perry H.S. in Lake County in 1979. After graduating from Olmsted Falls H.S. in 1974, Mike continued his baseball career at Kent State University.
