2018-19 !!!!!CHICAGO!WOLVES ! GAME!NOTES CHICAGO at COLORADO OCTOBER 5, 2018 8 p.m. AHLTV THE!=>TH!ANNIVERSARY!SEASON 2018-19 After months of preparation and anticipation, the 2018-19 American Hockey League season finally has TALE!OF!THE!TAPE arrived for the Chicago Wolves. Tonight marks the start of the franchise’s 25th season overall and 18th year as part of the American Hockey League. It seems fitting to open the year against the Colorado REGULAR-SEASON SERIES 0-0-0-0 Colorado | 0-0-0-0 Chicago Eagles because it’s a milestone occasion for them as well. The Eagles are making their AHL debut as they were welcomed as the league’s 31st team earlier this year. LAST MEETING April 22, 2018 Just as the Wolves are known for being four-time league champions, the Eagles enter this year riding the momentum of back-to-back championships in the ECHL. They have become partners with the NHL’s Colorado Avalanche this season, so their roster does not bear much resemblance to the group that claimed the 2018 Kelly Cup. Only six Eagles return, but a good chunk of Colorado’s Opening Night 0-0-0-0 0-0-0-0 roster played for San Antonio last year as the Rampage served as the Colorado Avalanche’s NHL partner. That group includes former Wolves forward Andrew Agozzino (18 goals, 36 assists in 2016-17). 2018-19 Chicago Wolves Game Notes CHICAGO AT GRAND RAPIDS OCTOBER 20, 2018 6 p.m. AHLTV ONE OF THE LAST TEAMS STANDING 2018-19 For the third time in the organization’s 25-year history, the Chicago Wolves are off to a 4-0 start as TALE OF THE TAPE head coach Rocky Thompson’s team pulled off a pair of home wins last weekend against the same team the Wolves are playing this weekend. The Wolves and the Charlotte Checkers (5-0-0-0) are the REGULAR-SEASON SERIES 0-1-0-0 Grand Rapids | 1-0-0-0 Chicago only unbeaten teams left in the AHL. LAST MEETING Winning the first handful of games in October typically leads to a magical June for the Wolves. In April 22, 2018 1997-98, head coach John Anderson’s first Wolves squad started 3-0 and went on to capture the 1998 Turner Cup. In 2001-02, the Wolves won their first three games and finished the year holding the Calder Cup aloft. In 2007-08, the Wolves raced out to a 6-0 start and didn’t stop until they owned the 2008 Calder Cup. 1-4-0-0 4-0-0-0 There’s only one Wolves team that started 3-0 that didn’t win the league championship: The 2012-13 LEADING SCORERS crew that opened 4-0, but early and frequent injuries left the squad just shy of the playoffs. GRAND RAPIDS CHICAGO Skater G A Pts Skater G A Pts If there are any coaches out there looking for bulletin board material to make sure their team doesn’t Zadina 2 1 3 McKenzie 1 6 7 get overconfident early in the year, there are these nuggets: Last year, the Milwaukee Admirals were Camper 1 2 3 Carr 1 5 6 the last AHL team to lose a game -- but the Admirals’ 4-0 start couldn’t prevent them from missing the Puempel 1 2 3 Pirri 1 4 5 playoffs.
