Pursuant to the recommendations of the Chief Medical Officer of Health for Alberta, a public health emergency was declared in the Province of Alberta on November 24, 2020 pursuant to section 52.1 of the Public Health Act of Alberta. Further to that declaration of a public health emergency the Chief Medical Officer of Health (CMOH), pursuant to her authority under section 29(2.1) of the Public Health Act, made CMOH Order 02-2021 (the Order) that identified businesses or entities allowed to offer goodsand services at locations accessible to the public as well as any other steps to lessen the impact of a public health emergency when offering those goods or services. Pursuant to section 74 of the Order the CMOH may exempt in writing persons or classes of persons from the operation of the Order. The Office of CMOH has received a request that certain individuals/classes of persons who are engaged in hockey related activities, on behalf of, or in relation to the 2020/21 Western Hockey League (WHL) Alberta Return to Play, to be held in Edmonton, Calgary, Lethbridge, Medicine Hat, Red Deer, in locations for the purpose of conducting these activities in locations that are currently not open, or are open with conditions to the public.

Within the first round, how do the top 10 overall picks perform versus those taken 11th-30th? – How much more valuable is a pick in the first round versus the other rounds? All things being equal, what should a pick from each round be worth in a trade? – Which teams were the most effective at drafting in the period sampled?     The Story Coming In The Medicine Hat Tigers host the Calgary Hitmen tonight for the third meeting in the course of a week between these two hockey clubs. The Tigers defeated the Hitmen 3-1 Saturday in Medicine Hat before falling 4-2 on Wednesday in Calgary. The Orange and Black are 23-11-1-1 and they are led by their Captain James Hamblin with 55 points (19G, 36A) and veteran forward Brett Kemp with 43 points (16G, 27A). After tonight’s game, the Tabbies will host the Seattle Thunderbirds on Saturday before departing early next week to Manitoba to take on the Brandon Wheat Kings Tuesday and the Winnipeg ICE on Wednesday. Tigers vs. Hitmen Tonight’s game between the Tigers and the Hitmen will be their third meeting in seven days and their fifth battle of the season. The Hitmen won all three games played at the Saddledome and the Tabbies have won the lone game played at the Canalta Centre. After tonight, Medicine Hat and Calgary will not meet again until March 6th at the Canalta Centre. The Tigers are 11-9-2-0 against the Hitmen over the past five years and 7-2-1-0 when playing at home. A trio of Tigers have four points in the four games played in the series so far – Ryan Chyzowksi (3G, 1A), James Hamblin (1G, 3A) and Cole Sillinger (1G, 3A). View from Calgary Tonight’s game against the Tigers will be the Calgary Hitmen’s fifth game in eight days since returning from their holiday break.

Besides my column in The Hockey News’ Ultimate Pool Guide, and my contributions to this year’s Score Forecaster (fifth year doing each), I put an ad in McKeen’s. That covers the big three hockey pool magazines and you should have at least one of them as part of your draft prep. The other thing you need, of course, is this Guide right here. It is not only updated throughout the summer, but I also make sure that the features/tidbits found in here are unique. I know what’s in the print mags and I have always tried to set this Guide apart from them. Once again, this is an automatic download – just pick it up in your downloads section. Look for one or two updates in August, then one or two updates between September 1st and 14th. After that, when training camp is in full swing, I will be updating every two or three days right into October. Make sure you download the latest prior to heading into your draft (and don’t ask me on one day if I’ll be updating the next day – I get so many of those that I am unable to answer them all, just download as late as you can). Any updates beyond this original release will be in bold blue.
