School Holidays are as follows: 14 November 2014; 22 December 2014 - 2 January 2015; 13-18 February 2015; 3-17 April 2015 Highland Railcard The Highland Railcard is available to anyone aged 16 or over permanently resident within the following Argyll and Bute postcodes: PA20-38, PA41-49, PA60-78 and G83. A Highland Railcard costs £8.50 and allows 50% off most rail fares when you travel on the West Highland, North Highland and Kyle Lines. Also up to 2 children, accompanied by a Highland Railcard holder, can travel for a flat fare of £2 return each. For information on how to apply ( 01463 239026. Scottish Citylink On Scottish Citylink services priority is given to boarding those passengers who have a reserved ticket. In the case of Concession Card holders they may reserve their journeys in advance of travel at a charge of 50p per journey which then entitles them to the same priority as any other class of reserved ticket holder. Thereafter the driver will take passengers on board in queue order subject to there being any remaining seats available. Seat reservations may be made in advance of travel by telephoning 08705 50 50 50, by visiting www.citylink.co.uk on the web or by visiting any Scottish Citylink Travel Centre or agent. NextBuses is an innovative, new service from Traveline that gives you the next bus times anywhere in the UK via mobile internet. Only pay your normal charges for internet data and receive a response within seconds. How does it work? 1. Log-on to www.nextbuses.mobi on your smart phone 2. Enter a postcode, street name and town, or bus stop code 3. On the map, click on the bus stop you want to use 4. View departure times for that stop on your mobile. It’s that easy! Scheduled bus times are shown if live times are not available. Normal data charges of your mobile operator apply. Speed and access to service is subject to your network connection. 4 Passenger Information For all local and national public transport timetables and journey planning information, call Traveline Scotland on 0871 200 22 33, or visit www.travelinescotland.com. Lines are open 24 hours a day, seven days a week. Calls cost 10p per minute from BT Landlines. Charges from mobiles or other providers may vary. Concessionary Travel On 1 April 2006 the Scottish Executive's national transport agency, Transport Scotland, launched a scheme which gives older people and people with disabilities free bus travel anywhere in Scotland. People who live in the area covered by The Strathclyde Concessionary Travel Scheme will also be able to use the card to get cheaper fares on First ScotRail trains and the Glasgow Subway. Highlands and Islands Patient Travel Scheme This scheme was originally set up in recognition of the difficulties and expense involved in travelling to and from hospital for people resident in remote communities. The scheme operates for people who live within Argyll and Bute, part of the NHS Highland area. If you are a patient travelling by public transport to a UK hospital for NHS treatment or appointments you may be able to reclaim part of your travelling expenses under this scheme. Please note that these times relate to when the bus is operational. It may not be possible to uplift you at 0700 exactly or to set you down as late as 1800 (or 2200 on summer Tuesdays) depending on where you are on the Island. Preference will be given to bookings connecting to or from Caledonian MacBrayne ferry sailings. Anyone can use this service. To book a journey contact the operator (Nancy McKechnie trading as John Kennedy) ( 01879 220419. Journeys can be booked up to one week in advance and as late as up to one hour before the time of travel (subject to availability). Normal fares apply on this service and holders of the Strathclyde Concessionary Travel Card travel free.

In this examination we have examined alternate progenitors of the family. Any reader of Scottish history realizes that Highlanders like to move and like to set up small groups of people in which they can become heads of families or chieftains. This was true in Colonsay and there were almost a dozen areas in Scotland where the clansman and his children regard one of these as 'home'. The writer has tried to define the nature of these homes, and to study their growth. It will take some years to organize comparative material and we have indicated in Chapter III the areas which should require research. In Chapter IV the writer has prepared a list of possible chiefs of the clan over a thousand years. The books on our Clan give very little information on these chiefs but the writer has recorded some probable comments on his chiefship.

    DUN FHINN KILDALTON, ISLAY AN ARCHAEOLOGICAL SURVEY DATA STRUCTURE REPORT May 2017 Roderick Regan Summary The survey of Dun Fhinn and its associated landscape has revealed a picture of an area extensively settled and utilised in the past dating from at least the Iron Age and very likely before. In the survey area we see settlements developing across the area from at least the 15 th century with a particular concentration of occupation on or near the terraces of the Kintour River. Without excavation or historical documentation dating these settlements is fraught with difficulty but the distinct differences between the structures at Ballore and Creagfinn likely reflect a chronological development between the pre-improvement and post-improvement settlements, the former perhaps a relatively rare well preserved survival. Situated between Mull and the Barra Isles, they stretch some 45 miles S.W. into the ocean from Ardnamurchan, the most westerly headland of the Scottish main­ land. Their geographical position, and separate scale maps of each, are shown in Figs. 1, 2 and 3. This work is concerned with records of all species of bird observed, from the earliest literature to the present day, not only on Tiree and Coll, but also on all islands and rocks between and including Eilein Mor, N.E. of Coll, and Skerryvore, S.W. of Tiree. The islands are a low undulating platform of Lewisian gneiss masked extensively by raised beach material and wind-blown sand. The sand deposits are particularly widespread in Tiree and S.W. Coll, but in N.W. Coll there are considerable tracts of bare rock. The terrain rises to its highest point (460 feet) in Ben Hynish, Tiree. The principal ecological divisions of the islands are: (i) an intertidal zone, including extensive beaches of shell-sand inter­ spaced with rocky shores trenched by eroded dykes, and fringed with skerries; (ii) grazed sand-dune systems landward to the shore sand, and moorland altered by salt-spray landward to the rocky shores (the only substantial sea-cliffs are at Ceann a'Mhara, Tiree); (iii) machair or sea-meadow, and cultivated calcareous grassland covering wide tracts of Tiree and S.W.

This table attempts to record significant projects carried out by Scott Wilson in the operational areas which became the responsibility of Scott Wilson Scotland (comprising Scotland, North of England, Northern Ireland and Ireland). Prior to the formation of SWS, projects were carried out by the UK Partnership. There is no simple definition of a significant Project. Whilst large projects can easily fall into this category, I have also included projects which added to the geographic and technical expansion of the firm. I have also included projects which created a stream of commissions. In part, the data in itself provides a detailed history of the development of SWS over the years. The data has been taken from job number lists which were obtained from archive catalogues. This data appears very comprehensive from 1971 to 2001.
