She really wants to go into the huge area behind the house and check out the sand hill cranes, but fencing such a large area would be cost-prohibitive. Maybe I’ll be able to do that at a later date. My oldest daughter Lauren graduated from High School this year – she is part of this odd “Class of 2020” that didn’t realize that March 12 would be their final opportunity to say “good- bye” and hug so many of their friends for the last time. I recently rediscovered the book Sabbath with any questions. by Wayne Muller who righty points out that taking time for (Sabbath) rest is not simply a suggestion, but rather is one of the “big ten” commandments! Right next to “Thou shalt not kill.” As Jesus said “We were not made for the Sabbath, but rather the Sabbath is made for us.” What does that mean for us? Maybe this is something we are being invited to ponder in this culture that often seems to down play and even prohibit this kind of God-mandated self-care that is essential for building God’s dream for our world. A Prayer Gathering in Solidarity with Refugees, Migrants and DACA/TPS Neighbors Saturday, July 18 Outside at St. Vincent de Paul REFLECTON FROM Lisa Andridge Church site (St. Damien of Molokai Parish) What are you tuned in to? 46408 Woodward, Pontiac My eldest son is 31 and I recently came across a bible he used regularly when he Organized by Strangers No Longer was in high school. In it, I found a wonderful short story that really spoke to me Circle of Support about this week’s Gospel. From St. Andrew and St. Mary of the “One beautiful spring morning, an experienced hiker was walking with a Hills, Rochester/Rochester Hills friend down Fifth Avenue in Manhattan. Almost all of the people nearby stopped at the sound of the coin hitting the concrete. ‘All of us are tuned to certain things,’ the hiker said to his friend. ‘Our ears hear what they are tuned to. Mine happen to be tuned to crickets.’ In a similar way we need to be open to God’s Word. Jesus said we need ‘eyes to see’ and ‘ears to hear’ before we can tune in to the Gospel.” This season we’re living in has been very challenging, tiresome, and fraught with disappointments, fear, and change. We’re learning to see the whole world differently and I think in this time God is encouraging us to slow down and fo- cus more on Him. Well, he certainly has my attention! With schedules flipped upside down, work and school totally interrupted, and our social lives cut off, we are forced to approach our days with a new vision. What is really important to us and what can we do without? This time has given us the opportunity to think about what we are really tuned in to. Are our hearts and minds focused on God? Teens Find us on We talk about what life will look like when we can get back to “normal”…but what is normal? Are there things you were doing before the pandemic days that you find you don’t want to go back to? What new focus have you developed in these weeks that you would like to continue? Don’t be discouraged if you discover you’ve gotten off track with your faith. Distractions are a huge part of everyday life and some days it can be really hard to keep your focus. That’s okay, you’re not alone. Welcome to being a Chris- tian. There is real wisdom in this week’s Gospel for us. What seeds are you planting now? What are you hoping to harvest in the future? Take stock of the seeds you sow, (i.e. the activities you spend your time on) and take a look at what’s really important to you. What are you tuned in to? Where is your focus? The world is a really noisy place and sometimes we just need to step back and reevaluate where we are and where we want to be. @ctrteens Someday you’ll be amazed at what God has planted in you.
