VARSANI of the Indian Administrative Service, Director of Census Operations, Gujarat As per nohle thout:hl of Late Shr; Krishna Menon, Ex Defence Minister of India, 18 Sainik schools were established in the country. Of these, only I Sainik schoof of En Xl ish medium is situated in Gujarat State. It was first established at Jamnaxar in July 1961. Subsequently inluly 1965, it was shifted at Balachadi about 32 km. away from Jamnagar city. The school was inaugurated by Late Shri Lal Bahadur Shastri, Ex. Prime Minister of India. The land for the school was donated by Maharaja lamsaheb. It was attached with the Central Board of Secondary Education,New Delhi. Each student is selected on the merits throughtAlllndia entrance examination and on the basis of reservation rules of the school. The school has a capacity of541 students. Most of them are Gujarati. Admission is norma lly confined to the boys between the ages of 9 to J() years. All the students are accommodated in houses. Monthly checkup is made for the general health of the students. The intention of the school is to prepare intelligent and personalated hays accademi cally and physically for entry into the National Defence Academy or other important walks of life. Charactel; team spirit, dedication of purpose, patriotic outlook and desire to serve the country with efficien(y are the qualities sought to be promoted by the Sainik school. All students are expected to take part in co-curricular activities to develop creative faculties and skill in fine arts and crafts. -

C.I.D. crime at Una. Members in the team: 1. Ms. Manjula Pradeep – Executive Director, Navsarjan Trust Ms. Manjula Pradeep is a Dalit and Women Rights activist working for past 24 years. She is also playing active role in raising issues related to caste based discrimination in the United Nations and European Parliament. 2. Ms. Nitaben Mahadev – Secretary, Gujarat Lok Samiti Ms. Nitaben was an active member of J.P. movement and is playing active role in Gujarat Lok Samiti for past 40 years. She is advocating on the issues of land rights for marginalized communities in Gujarat. 3. Ms. Meenakshiben Joshi – Movement for Secular Democracy Ms. Meenakshiben is actively working for the rights of women in Gujarat for past 30 years. 4. Mr. Govind Parmar – Advocate and activist Mr. Govind Parmar is a senior lawyer, practicing for past 15 years, in the session’s court of Gujarat and is helping affected Dalit communities by defending serious cases of atrocities against them in the courts.
