Rai Sahib Gangadhar Nanda, Noble hearted, social minded and far-sighted landlord of Mugberia is the prime outstanding personality in the domain of modern development of this locality. This college is named after his patronage as Mugberia Gangadhar Mahavidyalaya. It is established on 2nd July, 1964 by some local enthusiasts including his grandson late Jyotirmay Nanda for the spread of higher education in this far – flung area. This locality though enriched with education & culture till remains backward and rural in economic condition. Arts, Science & Commerce are the three stream attached to the course of study to this college – under the efficient management of the Governing Body. Honours is offered in Fourteen Subjects; and nineteen subjects are offered in General discipline. Moreover a Teachers‘-training programme like B.P.Ed. is also run in the college. Weble Computer Centre, IGNOU partnership courses (BCA, BLIS), NCFM Course and Non formal Sanskrit Education Centre organized in the college within the last five years. Thus the college has extended academic activities. The course followed by this institution is determined by the affiliating University (Previously University of Calcutta up to 1985, now Vidyasagar University, Medinipur) regarding curriculum, admission, examination and with all respect. Often the teachers help the University in designing curriculum through the Teachers‘ Council and individual teacher‘s contribution who 4 Re-accreditation report of Mugberia Gangadhar Mahavidyalaya are the members of the UG Council and Board of Studies. Beside these, the college has formulated the syllabus, rules regulation of four (4) career oriented programmes, run in the college. The University prepared the last syllabus and curriculum in the year 2006-2007. The college prepares a routine with the help of teachers‘ council and the faculty Members of the college meet in the department and distribute the syllabus among teachers for smooth learning. Following the Rules and Regulations of the University the Institution provides flexibility in choice of subjects by the students following the university subject bunching, while taking admission in the 1st year. Students are also allowed in choosing two interdisciplinary subjects like Economics and Geography both by the students of Arts and Science. The institution provides flexibility for moving from one discipline to other within a time period. Syllabus and curriculum has been enriched enough by using computers with internet connections, projectors, smart board etc. Moreover, the syllabus has been completed by the faculties within the scheduled classes guided by the university. We enriched the curriculum by introducing career counseling cell and career oriented programmes in the college. The institution obtains feedback from the teachers through the meetings of the Teachers council and concern Department about the syllabus and rules regulations. Also the feedbacks from the students are received through Grievance Redressal Cell, Students feedback form and the Students Union. The academic bodies and teachers‘ council take appropriate measures to meet the deficiency. Both the Principal and the Members of the U.G. Council and BOS report to the University for the above. The admission process is controlled by the admission committee and it is done strictly on intake capacity and merit basis. Reservation in seats is made as per the State Govt. rules. Students‘ knowledge and skills before admission are evaluated by the marks they scored in the last public examination. Admission notice, form, intake and merit list are placed in our college website and the college notice board. The college arranges one day counselling system for admission to the 1st year classes. Also students‘ attendances in Hons classes are seriously observed for determining their continuation of the subjects. 5 Re-accreditation report of Mugberia Gangadhar Mahavidyalaya The college conducts academic programmes according to the academic calendar framed by the University.
