NAVIGATING CANVAS NAVIGATING CANVAS When you log into Canvas you will reach the dashboard or main screen: It contains some very important navigational tools. NAVIGATING CANVAS Global Navigation Menu: The Global Navigation menu helps you get to where you want to go across all of the Canvas courses you are enrolled in. Help Corner: Allows you to access your profile, course inbox, profile settings, logout of Canvas and access the help function. Home Button: Brings you back to the this dashboard from anywhere in Canvas. Global Navigation Menu Help Corner Home Button NAVIGATING CANVAS Hover your mouse over Courses and it will show you all of the courses that you have ever taken in Canvas. You can customize this menu to show only current courses. Select a course and this is what you’ll see… COURSE NAVIGATION Course Navigation Menu: Guides you within a Canvas course. This can change from course to course based on what the instructor wants you to see. Breadcrumb Navigation: Leaves a trail that lets you see where you have been inside a Canvas course. Follow the links backward to visit parent pages. Click on the house icon at the far left of the Breadcrumbs to move all the way back to the Dashboard. Course Navigation Menu Breadcrumb Navigation COURSE NAVIGATION Content Area: The content of the course will be displayed here. This is your primary work area within the course. Sidebar: Provides the tools available for the Canvas feature you are currently using. The Sidebar will change dynamically as you use different tools in a feature as well as when you move from feature to feature. Sidebar Content Area .
