Here is a list of items, ideas, and things to do with your portable devices. SECURITY and PRIVACY 1. Set your phone's Passcode (4-Digits) and Touch ID (Thumb Print) under Settings Turn 2. Auto-Lock on (Settings > General > Auto-Lock). This will automatically lock your phone after a certain amount of time, set by you. 3. Use iCloud to locate, track, and disable your phone remotely from another web-enabled device (computer, laptop, phone, iPad) a. Set up an iCloud account (Settings>iCloud) b. Turn on Find my iPhone/iPad and Send Last Location c. Log on to www.iCloud.com to: -Play a Sound to help locate your phone -Place your phone in Lost Mode to lock your device with a password -Erase your iPhone/iPad -Use GPS to locate your phone's last known location TIP: Consider keeping a small notebook in a secure place to store all your logins and passwords. Make sure to use to update this list regularly and use a combination of letters (some CAPS), symbols, and numbers. HEALTH AND EMERGENCY CONTACT INFO The pre-installed Health app keeps track of your health and fitness information for easy viewing and sharing. You can manually enter information or let the Health app collect data from other apps and devices that monitor your health and activity. The Health app allows you to: a. View your health Dashboard for an overview of all activity. You can rearrange data type and sync 3rd party health apps and devices (i.e. Apple Watch, FitBits, or other wearable/online health trackers). b. Share health data with you doctor or export the data into a XML format for your own records or files. c. Create an Emergency Medical ID. The iPhone/iPad can display emergency information to someone attending to you even if your phone is "locked". Use the Medical ID icon in the bottom right of the screen to enter Medical conditions, Medications, Emergency contact information, Doctor information and more. SIRI Siri lets you speak to your iPhone to send messages, schedule meetings, place phone calls, and much more. Some examples include “set the timer for 3 minutes” and “what movies are showing tonight?” Use Siri to verbally open apps, turn on/off features like Airplane Mode, Bluetooth, Do Not Disturb, and VoiceOver. Siri is great for keeping you updated with the latest sports info or helping you decide on a restaurant. To access Siri, press and hold the Home button, release the button, then make your request. Access Siri in most cars with Bluetooth (Siri Eyes Free) by holding the voice command button on your steering wheel until you hear the Siri tone, and ask away. GETTING ONLINE The iPhone/iPad will remember Wi-Fi networks and passwords entered (if applicable) to automatically reconnect anytime you return to the same location, such as your home or favorite restaurant. By connecting to a secure Wi-Fi connection, you can save charges for data usage by cell phone service providers. To view and connect to available networks, go to Settings > Wi-Fi. Enter in the Wi-Fi network and password. When you see the at top of your screen, you are on a Wi-Fi network. GETTING APPS Use the App Store to browse, purchase and download apps to your iOS device *(Play Store on Android Phones). Your apps update automatically over Wi-Fi (unless you turn off this feature) a. You can ask Siri to find apps you are looking for... Give it a try! b. You can move apps into any folder you want. Drag an app on top of another app to create your own folder. c. To delete an app, press and hold down on an app until they start to jiggle. Click on the X on the app you want to delete. Then click the home button when you’re done. Note: you can’t delete built in apps.
