From the moment I walked into the site office the team were aware of who I was and immediately introduced themselves and outlined what was planned for the coming week. Throughout the placement the site team answered any questions I had regarding the project and gave me tasks to conduct that allowed me to get an insight into the role of Site Manager. It was pleasing that each member of the site offered their time to educate me on their roles and experiences they have had that could benefit me in future employment. I felt that as the week progressed I was able to offer my insight and share experiences; notably on the SWIOT project, despite my limited knowledge my views were taken seriously and fairly considered. “Communication with Morgan Sindall has been great throughout, I arrived on site with a good understanding of what I was required to do before hand (CSCS) and what I needed to bring. Overall I would highly recommend a work placement with Morgan Sindall, the week has given me a great insight into a role that I was interested in and has confirmed to me that I would like to pursue it as a career.” “Throughout the week I gained a valuable insight into the world of construction, I had some very informative discussions with the Project Manager, Contracts Manager, Quantity Surveyor and Health & Safety Advisor. I got to see lots of different trades in action, all of whom were friendly and took time out to tell me about their field....the good, the bad and the ugly! It was great to get a balanced view. Whilst there I was able to get some hands on experience of site management, for example I found myself marking out positions for concrete pads to support structural steel on day 1, not something to get wrong! I would strongly recommend work experience with Morgan Sindall to anyone who has an interest in working within construction. Great week!” - A Selection of Exeter Live Projects…..
