Legedary coach Toley dies: George Toley, one of the premier tennis coaches in collegiate history who led USC to 10 NCAA team championships during his 27-year reign (1954-80) as the men's coach, died on Saturday in Pasadena. He was 91.

Nine of Toley's players won the NCAA singles crown and 12 of his Trojans doubles teams captured NCAA titles. His teams won 82 percent of their dual matches (430-92-4).

His pupils went on to win more than 400 national and international titles, Grand Slam events, and several were ranked No. 1 in the world. Among the players he produced were , , , , , Raul Ramirez, Joaquin Loyo-Mayo, Robert Van't Hof and his successor as Trojan coach, Dick Leach.

Toley is a member of the Collegiate Tennis Hall of Fame, Southern California Tennis Hall of Fame and USC Athletic Hall of Fame.
