Geelong Grammar School Profile Geelong Grammar School is one of the world’s leading co-educational boarding and day schools. Offering exceptional educational opportunities across four campuses from Early Learning to Year 12, Geelong Grammar School is committed to making a positive difference for students, staff and the community. We believe in prioritising wellbeing, creativity and academic rigour, and we value wisdom. Bostock House (approximately 100 students). Situated in the Geelong suburb of Newtown, this campus caters for day students from Early Learning to Year 4. After Year 4, students from Bostock House proceed to Corio. The Bostock campus has approximately 17 full time and part time teaching and support staff. The size of Bostock House enables the development of close relationships for all resulting in a well-rounded education for each child. Employees have a sound knowledge and understanding of all students and work collaboratively to foster development of the whole child. Bostock House aims to build a solid foundation of knowledge, skills and mind-sets in all areas of learning. Students are provided with rich learning experiences and encouraged to question, consider, reflect and make connections to prior learning and to the world around them. The comprehensive curriculum provides an opportunity for students to make a positive difference within the local, national and international community. Toorak (approximately 320 students) is located in Melbourne. It caters for day students from Early Learning (3 year-old) to Year 6. After Year 6, most students proceed to Corio. The Toorak Campus has approximately 85 full time and part time teaching and support staff. At Toorak Campus our purpose is to build a solid foundation (knowledge, skills, mindset and self- worth) in each child. To engender a true love of learning that will inspire and support them through their educational journey and successfully prepare them for their tomorrow. Our focus is to embrace and integrate the philosophies of Reggio Emilia, the International Baccalaureate’s Primary Years Programme (PYP) and Positive Education, which allows us to provide a well- rounded education that supports the development of the whole child. Our vision is to provide an inclusive, engaging and creative environment which enables each child to discover their ‘wings to fly’. Corio (approximately 920 students) offers day, day boarding, weekly boarding and full boarding in Years 5 to 8 (Middle School) and day and full boarding in Years 10 to 12 (Senior School). About 70% of Corio students are full boarders. Approximately 100 staff (nearly all teaching) reside on the campus, with 30 accommodation units being connected to boarding houses, and the remainder consisting mostly of free-standing residences. The campus is like a small community with its own (large) kitchen/dining facilities, a medical centre (9 beds), chapel and maintenance workshops and comprehensive educational infrastructure. The campus also provides high level sport, recreational, training and performance facilities used by the School community. We believe that student wellbeing is at the centre of education - our focus is on helping our students to discover and develop their strengths so that they can strive for success and lead engaged and meaningful lives. The Handbury Centre for Wellbeing provides a gymnasium, indoor swimming pool, dance studio and multi- purpose playing courts and the recently opened School for Performing Arts and Creative Education (SPACE) provides “State of the Art” auditoriums, performance theatres, creative education hubs and display spaces that utilise the latest in technology and bring creativity to life. We offer more than 100 co- curricular activities and a wide spectrum of sporting pursuits. Timbertop (approximately 235 students) is a boarding campus for all of Geelong Grammar School’s Year 9 students, located near Mt Buller in Victoria's Alps. All teaching staff live on the campus and students spend the entire year at Timbertop taking part in hiking, recreational and community service activities. Timbertop is an unforgettable learning experience which, for many students, is a challenging rite of passage to a rewarding adult life. Nestled in a secluded valley in the foothills of the Victorian Alps, it is a campus like no other. Here, adolescents develop personal skills and qualities beyond those possible in a traditional suburban day school. Timbertop combines comprehensive Academic and Outdoor Education programmes. While living together in a small, supportive and secure community, students are exposed to intellectual, physical and emotional challenges under demanding environmental conditions. They unearth personal strengths, develop confidence and learn the value of co-operative endeavour - awakening a belief in themselves that will help them overcome the obstacles and hurdles they will come across throughout their lives. .
