The French Consulate is organizing two francophone days Canal Académie for middle and high schoolers. It is a wonderful opportunity for students to discover different aspects of the Francophone world MAFLA and to have fun together - with gifts, French snacks and prizes NHAWLT offered. AATF Blog AATF Eastern Mass This year the French Consulate will be showing a French film Theworldspeaksfrench (title to be announced). Afterwards, students will break into groups based on classes to compete in a short quiz and Boston-Strasbourg discussion about the film. This is an exciting opportunity to see Boston Accueil a very popular French film, practice French and engage with Bienvenue à Boston other students who speak French. Our 2012 Contest - featuring Comics ! There is still time to sign up for our 2012 Contest! The DVD will be sent to you for free! Deadline to send comic strips April 15, 2012 Studying comics is a critical but often overlooked part of learning the French language. Comics provide an excellent way to learn French through humor, images, and French grammar. Through this 2012 Contest, offered by the Consulate of France in Boston, French teachers have the opportunity to incorporate comics into their classrooms. Do not miss this opportunity to mix creativity, imagination, and drawing interest with the practice of French! How does it work? For this contest, students must create a few comic strips. Hampshire, Vermont and Rhode Island. The DVD BD Mix, created by the Ministry of Foreign and European Affairs, will be used in this competition. This DVD includes interviews of well-known French cartoonists (with subtitles) and an educational booklet. For more information, click here . The SPCD Grant; a great opportunity for French Teachers in the United States! There is still time to apply! Deadline: February 29 Each year, the Cultural Services Department of the French Embassy in the U.S. offers grants to qualified primary and secondary school teachers of French looking to enhance their knowledge of French culture and improve their language and teaching skills. Each grant includes tuition and training fees for two weeks and a round trip train ticket from Paris to the city of destination (where the program takes place). Program participants also receive an allowance to help with a portion of their accommodation and food expenses. Round trip air fare is not included. Participants are selected through a national competition where candidates submit proposals for local or personal projects in the field of environmental protection. Each proposal will be in the form of a short audiovisual presentation (maximum length of 4 minutes) showing the student's interest in environmental issues and his or her commitment to environmental protection. Teachers have to fill out an application (one per class) and submit the form by email to Guillaume Prigent . Call for submissions for CampusArt If you have students studying art who speak French, share this opportunity with them. There are a few weeks left to submit applications to www.campusart.org , the website for French art schools. Look on-line at the various schools and requirements and submit applications before time runs out. CampusArt is accepting applications until the end of February. Hemingway Grant program Deadine for submitting your application: February 21, 2012. Following deadline for the fall session: July 18, 2012 The Hemingway Grant program for translation, administered by the French Embassy, is now accepting applications for 2012.The French Ministry of Foreign Affairs offers several programs providing assistance for the translation and publication of French books. The grant awarded for each work ranges from $1,000 to $6,000. This program supports books that have not been published and that are not supported by the Centre National du Livre (French Ministry of Culture). Eligible publishers must be registered in the US. Deadline for the application process: February 17, 2012 La FEMIS, a State French University for Film and Sound, recruits a small number of non-European candidates each year. Located in Paris, the school offers courses focusing on artistic research, professional development and technical training. Graduates have won (on many occasions) three of the world's most prestigious film prizes - Cannes Film Festival's Golden Palm, Venice Film Festival's Golden Lion and Berlin International Film Festival's Golden Bear. It is considered the most rewarded film school in the world, preceding the Beijing Film Academy and the Tisch School of the Arts of New York. The application process closes February 17.
