View of Crime Bill Clinton: The President whose tenure witnessed immense economic expansion Bill Clinton who got elected as the 42nd President of the United States of America in 1992 and became the third youngest President in the history of America. Theodore Roosevelt who became the President in 1901 after the assassination of the then President, William McKinley remains the youngest President to occupy office at the age of 42 years. William Mckinley was the the 25th President of America elected in 1896 Presidential election. He was Republican. McKinley was born on 29 January 1843 in the city of Niles located in northeastern part of the state of Ohio. One of the important events during the time of President McKinley was the Spanish-American War of 1898. In this war America defeated Spain and gained the terrories of Puerto Rico (island in the northeastern Caribbean Sea), Guam (island in the north Pacific Ocean) and Philippines (an archipelago in the western Pacific Ocean). McKinley won the first term of Presidency in 1896, during this election his Running Mate was Garret Augustus Hobart. Before named as the Vice Presidential candidate of McKinley, Garret Hobart was elected to the General Assembly as well as the Senate of New Jersey state. He served as the Vice President of America between 4 March 1897 to 21 November 1899. He died on 21 November 1899. In 1900 elections, McKinley again wanted to have Hobart as his Running Mate but his death made him to choose (rather Republican Party chose) Theodore Roosevelt, the incumbent Governor of New York state as his Vice Presidential candidate. On 6 September 1901, President McKinley was assassinated by Leon Frank Czołgosz, an anarchist (anarchists believe in the abolition of state) in the city of Buffalo, New York state and he died on 14 September 1901. Hence, Theodore Roosevelt, being the Vice President of McKinley became the 26 the President of USA on same day. But, Theodore Roosevelt remains the second youngest 'elected' President at the age of 46 when he won the Presidential election in 1904 (in 1901 he didn't win the office of the President but acquired it as a virtue of Vice President of McKinley who died as a President in office). John F. Kennedy also known as JFK (Democratic Party) is the second youngest President of America to enter the office in 1962 at the age of 43. But, he is considered as the youngest President to be elected to office as unlike Theodore Roosevelt, JFK became the President by winning the election. John F. Kennedy was the candidate of Democratic Party in the 1960 Presidential election. His Running Mate was Lyndon B. Johnson, the Senator from Texas. John F. Kennedy and Lyndon B. Johnson ticket defeated the Republican rivals Richard Nixon (Presidential candidate) and Henry Cabot Lodge Junior (Vice Presidential candidate). Bill Clinton or William Jefferson Blythe III was born on 19 August 1946 in Hope city of south central state of Arkansas. Hope city is a birthplace of two Governors of Arkansas i.e. Bill Clinton (he served as Arkansas Governor from 9 January 1979 to 19 January 1981 and again from 11 January 1983 to 12 December 1992) and Michael Dale Huckabee (he was the Governor of Arkansas from 15 July 1996 to 9 January 2007. He belonged to the Republican Party). Bill Clinton's father's name was William Jefferson Blythe Junior and his mother's name was Verginia Dell Cassidy (Virginia Dell Blythe). William Jefferson Blythe Junior was born on 27 February 1918 in Sherman city in Texas state. He used to sell the heavy equipments. On 17 May 1946 when he was returning from Chicago (one of the biggest cities in USA located on the edge of lake Michigan in the Midwestern state of Illinois) to Hope city in Arkansas in his Buick car met with an accident on US Highway 60 also known as the US Route 60 which connects the southwestern state of Arizona with the Atlantic state of Virginia. The accident took place on the outskirts of the city of Skiston in the state of Missouri. When a tyre of his care blew up he was thrown in a ditch or water channel and got drowned in a drainage. (Buick is a part of the General Motors, the largest manufcturer of automobiles in USA. Buick was named after David Buick the pioneer of automotive sector in America. He founded the Buick Auto-Vim and Power Company in 1899 which became the Buick Motor Company on 19 May 1903 and from 1908 it is a part of General Motors). At the time of this accident Virginia Blythe was pregnant with the child of William Jefferson Blythe Junior and she gave birth to a baby boy three months after this tragic incident, and this boy was Bill Clinton. After the birth of Bill Clinton his mother went to the New Orleans (it is a city in southern state of Louisiana in USA bounded by Arkansas on North, Texas to the West, Mississippi to the East and the Gulf of Mexico to the South) in order to pursue a course in nursing. Virginia Blythe (Clinton) was used to administer anesthesia. The nurses who are experts in administering anesthesia to patients before operation are called as nurse anesthetist. She was born on 6 June 1923 in Bodcaw town of Arkansas. After the death of William Jefferson Blythe Junior, Virginia got married with Roger Clinton Senior. He was a car salesman. William Jefferson Blythe III later on decided to adopt the surname Clinton, the surname of his stepfather. When Bill's mother had been to New Orleans for studying nursing course he was looked after by his maternal grandparents Eldridge and Edith Cassidy. When we see the photos of Bill Clinton since his childhood, we realize that he was quite charming and handsome guy. He was also active in extra-curricular activities in his school and College days. Bill attended different schools in Hot Springs, Arkansas. Hot Springs is a resort town in the state of Arkansas. There are many natural hot springs in this town. Clinton used to play a medium- sized saxophone since his young days. The year 1963 played crucial role in attracting young Bill towards politics and making a career as politician. In this year he had an opportunity to meet John F. Kennedy, the then President of USA in White House. He was also influenced by the famous 'I Have a Dream' speech of Martin Luther King Junior (the famous Civil Rights Activist from USA, who was inspired by the ideals of Mahatma Gandhi and had visited India along-with with his wife Coretta Scott King in 1959). 'I Have a Dream' speech was delivered by Martin Luther King Junior on 28 August 1963 on the steps of Lincoln Memorial in Washington DC. In 1964, Clinton took admission in Georgetown University in Washington DC. Georgetown University is a higher education institution which has the Colleges and Schools offering courses in Foreign Service, Law, Medicine, Nursing, Business, Languages and Linguistics among other things. One more prominent alumnus of Georgetown University is Ivan Duque Marquez, who is the current President of Colombia (South American country) who took the charge as President on 7 August 2018. Clinton attended the School of Foreign Service-SFS (Edmund A. Walsh School of Foreign Service), George John Tenet, who served as the Director of Central Intelligence Agency (CIA-the spy agency of USA) from 16 December 1996 to 11 July 2004 is also the alumnus of SRF. King Philip VI of Spain too had studied at the School of Foreign Service, Georgetown University. Madeleine Jana Korbel Albright (the first woman Secretary of State of USA from 23 January 1997 to 20 January 2001 appointed by President Bill Clinton) and Charles Timothy Hagel (served as the Secretary of Defense in the administration of President Barack Obama from 27 February 2013 to 17 February 2015) had served as the faculty members of SFS. Clinton completed his Degree in international affairs in the year 1968. Bill Clinton had worked as an intern for James William Fulbright, the Democrat Senator from the state of Arkansas. Fulbright had the distinction of serving as a Senator for 30 years from 1944 to 1974. Before becoming the Senator, he was elected as the Member of House of Representatives, the Lower House of the American Congress (Parliament is called as Congress in US). The Member of House of Representatives is called as 'Representative' or 'Congressman' and the Member of Senate, the Upper House of American Congress is called as the 'Senator'. J. William Fulbright was born on 9 April 1905 in Sumner city of Missouri State. He has the distinction of serving maximum years as the Chairperson of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee from 3 January 1959 to 31 December 1974. Fulbright had played instrumental role in starting the 'Fulbright Program', the International Exchange Programme of the American government. It is said that Fulbright suggested to the US government to sell the surplus US war related things or material and use that money for this International Exchange Programme, wherein Americans would be able to go to other countries for studying or doing research and also the students and scholars from other countries are offered scholarships for academic pursuits in USA. There are several types of programmes under this International Scholarship or Exchange Scheme of the American government. The then US President, Harry S. Truman signed the Bill on 1 August 1946 which resulted into the creation or inception of Fulbright Program. Fulbright was one of the staunch opponents and vocal critics of Vietnam War.

  • CHAPTER 8 FLORIDA Florida First Emerged on the Presidential
CHAPTER 8 FLORIDA Florida first emerged on the presidential primary scene in 1988, when it was one of the southern states that participated in the first-ever Super Tuesday. Four years later, in 1992, Florida was propelled to the front rank of important primary states when the news media selected it for the final showdown between Governor Bill Clinton of Arkansas and former- U.S. Senator Paul Tsongas of Massachusetts. In the 1992 race for the Democratic nomination for president, Paul Tsongas got off to a fast start by winning the New Hampshire primary. Tsongas next won the Maryland primary, but that same day Bill Clinton swept to victory in the southern state of Georgia. The two candidates thus were running neck and neck when they faced off against one another in Florida on the second Tuesday in March. Although located in the South and one of the states that seceded from the Union during the American Civil War, Florida is not considered a typical southern state by voting-behavior analysts. The major reason for this is the large number of former northern voters who have moved to South Florida, either to retire or to enjoy the outdoor lifestyle of one of the fastest-growing states in the nation. These former northerners were viewed as ripe targets for the Paul Tsongas campaign. His heavy Massachusetts accent would not sound quite so strange to them, and his New Hampshire and Maryland primary victories already had demonstrated his strong appeal to people from the northern part of the nation. Furthermore, in the 1988 presidential elec- tion, Florida had voted for Democratic presidential candidate Michael Dukakis, like Tsongas a Greek from Massachusetts.

PRESIDENTIAL ILLNESS AND DISABILITY: THE HEALTH AND PERFORMANCE OF PRESIDENTS FROM 1789-1901 A THESIS IN Political Science Presented to the Faculty of the of Missouri-Kansas City in partial fulfillment of the requirement for the degree MASTER OF ARTS by CHAD LAWRENCE KING B.A., University of Missouri-Kansas City, 2008 Kansas City, Missouri 2013 © 2013 CHAD LAWRENCE KING ALL RIGHTS RESERVED PRESIDENTIAL ILLNESS AND DISABILITY: THE HEALTH AND PERFORMANCE OF PRESIDENTIAL TICKETS FROM 1789-1901 Chad Lawrence King, Candidate for the Master of Arts Degree University of Missouri-Kansas City, 2013 ABSTRACT Presidential health and performance has been a subject of study by both political scientists and historians, many of whom have examined the health of our nation’s presidents. This study of presidential history is not new. Many monographs and articles have examined this subject in great detail. While these have led to new interpretations of presidential history, they are inadequate for understanding the problem that presidential ill health and disability have presented during our nation’s history. Most studies focus only on the twentieth century and the importance of health into the modern presidency. While the focus of health on the modern presidency has greatly changed our understanding of individual presidents and their effect on history, it nonetheless presents only a partial picture of the problem, since it neglects the effect of presidential health during the early years of the republic. I argue that presidential health has always been of prime importance and its effect is certainly not limited to recent decades. This study will also focus, when appropriate, on the health of the vice president during certain administrations.

  • Special Counsels, Independent Counsels, and Special Prosecutors: Options for Independent Executive Investigations Name Redacted Legislative Attorney
Special Counsels, Independent Counsels, and Special Prosecutors: Options for Independent Executive Investigations name redacted Legislative Attorney June 1, 2017 Congressional Research Service 7-.... www.crs.gov R44857 Special Counsels, Independent Counsels, and Special Prosecutors Summary Under the Constitution, Congress has no direct role in federal law enforcement and its ability to initiate appointments of any prosecutors to address alleged wrongdoings by executive officials is limited. While Congress retains broad oversight and investigatory powers under Article I of the Constitution, criminal investigations and prosecutions have generally been viewed as a core executive function and a responsibility of the executive branch. Historically, however, because of the potential conflicts of interest that may arise when the executive branch investigates itself (e.g., the Watergate investigation), there have been calls for an independently led inquiry to determine whether officials have violated criminal law. In response, Congress and the U.S. Department of Justice (DOJ) have used both statutory and regulatory mechanisms to establish a process for such inquiries. These responses have attempted, in different ways, to balance the competing goals of independence and accountability with respect to inquiries of executive branch officials. Under the Ethics in Government Act of 1978, Congress authorized the appointment of “special prosecutors,” who later were known as “independent counsels.” Under this statutory scheme, the Attorney General could request that a specially appointed three-judge panel appoint an outside individual to investigate and prosecute alleged violations of criminal law. These individuals were vested with “full power and independent authority to exercise all investigative and prosecutorial functions and powers of the Department of Justice” with respect to matters within their jurisdiction.

  • Rankin V. Rodham
Rankin v. Rodham: The Difference between Shattering and Cracking the !2 It’s Tuesday, November 7th of the year 1916. Jeannette Rankin has just successfully won her campaign in running for a seat in the U.S. House of Representatives. This achievement makes her the very first woman to ever serve in Congress. The precedence of this achievement is only emphasized by the fact that the people of Montana elected her into Congress four years before the 19th amendment, that allowed women across the country to vote, had been ratified. Rankin had just made history, and her legacy had only just begun. Flash forward to almost exactly one hundred years from that historic date. It’s Tuesday, November 8th of the year 2016. This is the first year in American history where a woman is the presidential nominee of a major political party.1 Hillary Rodham Clinton is the Democratic Party candidate, and she seems to be the clear winner of this election. She’s an experienced woman of privilege who is going head-to- head with the inexperienced, well-placed Republican Party candidate Donald Trump. With Clinton’s outstanding credentials, such as a law degree from Yale Law School, and her immense involvement in politics throughout her life, like holding the position of Secretary of State for the United States, one would think that she would be the obvious choice to preside over the country, right?2 As the American people were casting their votes and television networks across the country were broadcasting this historic election taking place, one could almost hear the cracks in one of the highest, hardest glass ceilings begin to form.
