Caroline Axén Wrigfors Karin Eliasson Jönköping International Business School, June 2008 Master Thesis within Business Administration Authors: Caroline Axén Wrigfors Karin Eliasson Tutor: Cinzia Dalzotto Date: 2008-06-11 Subject Terms: Strategic Management, Strategic Leadership, Strategic Think- ing, Corporate Strategy & Competitive Advantage Abstract Strategic management has long been viewed as the concept and process that link an organi- zation and its environment together (Leibold, Probst & Gibbert, 2002). It consists of the analysis, decisions and actions an organization undertakes in order to create and sustain competitive advantages (Dess, Lumpkin & Taylor, 2005). Within the history of strategic management research there has been an unbalance between the internal and the external perspective. During the 1980s Michael Porter, one of the most prominent strategic management researchers, and his Five Forces model focused strictly on the external competitive environment (Mintzberg, Ahlstrand & Lampel, 1998). Further, in the 1990s the focus shifted from external to internal along with Jay Barney’s development of the resource based theory in 1991 (Barney, 1991). The issue of excluding one or the other perspective has now started to be acknowledged and researchers today are striving for developing models integrating both perspectives. However, theoretical models existing today that combine the two perspectives are complex and hard to apply in practice for managers within the business world. In order to address the complexity of the strategic management concept we have chosen to develop a model with the purpose to connect and relate the external and internal perspec- tives by conducting an in-depth analysis of a chosen company. The model also strives to be easily communicated, applicable and understandable for managers and employees on dif- ferent levels within the organization. This leads us to the purpose of this thesis: “to develop a simplified model that combines the external and internal perspective of strategic man- agement and apply this to a chosen company”. The research was conducted through a case study based on the authors’ participation in a PBM (Project Based Module) - project. The model was tested on the company in question by analyzing the company’s internal and external environment with the means of analysis tools such as PEST-analysis, strategic group analysis, threshold analysis and the SWOT- analysis. To conclude it is important to balance an organization’s internal efforts with the external market conditions and avoid excluding one or the other from the strategic management process. Combining the two perspectives results in identifying the current capabilities and competences and the direction of how to use these in order to meet market demands and gain competitive advantage. 2 UPTEC W 20030 Examensarbete 30 hp Juni 2020 Contamination analysis of the landfill Rösaberg inerta massor Risk assessment and investigation of the contaminant distribution Lisa Westander ABSTRACT Contamination analysis of the landfill Rösaberg inerta massor -risk assessment and investigation of the contaminant distribution Lisa Westander The dispersion of contaminants deriving from landfills poses a risk to the surrounding environment and human health. Old landfills are treated with extra precaution, due to their poorer construction, less stringent operation and lack information regarding the waste content. Vetlanda municipality has identified 48 old landfills. One of them is Rösaberg inerta massor. It is one of the largest landfills in the region and is located close to numerous sensitive environmental receptors (such as the river Emån). During a phase 1 investigation (MIFO 1) in 2017, the landfill was designated the highest risk classification, class 1, and is considered a very high risk to environment and human health. No sampling was conducted during this time, but the level of contaminants was assumed to be very high. The objective of this study was to investigate the prevalence of contaminants by determining the pollution levels in soil and groundwater in the landfill. Samples was obtained by completing a site investigation, involving trial pits examination and installing of monitoring wells. National as well as site-specific guideline values were used to determine the effects of the contaminant levels of the site. In the software Groundwater Modeling system (GMS) was used to study if the contaminant plumes reach the river Emån. A 50-year scenario was set up in GMS to investigate likely concentrations in the future.

  • Government Communication 2011/12:56 a Coordinated Long-Term Strategy for Roma Skr
Government communication 2011/12:56 A coordinated long-term strategy for Roma Skr. inclusion 2012–2032 2011/12:56 The Government hereby submits this communication to the Riksdag. Stockholm, 16 February 2012 Fredrik Reinfeldt Erik Ullenhag (Ministry of Employment) Key contents of the communication This communication presents a coordinated and long-term strategy for Roma inclusion for the period 2012–2032. The strategy includes investment in development work from 2012–2015, particularly in the areas of education and employment, for which the Government has earmarked funding (Govt. Bill. 2011/12:1, Report 2011/12:KU1, Riksdag Communication 2011/12:62). The twenty-year strategy forms part of the minority policy strategy (prop. 2008/09:158) and is to be regarded as a strengthening of this minority policy (Govt. Bill 1998/99:143). The target group is above all those Roma who are living in social and economic exclusion and are subjected to discrimination. The whole implementation of the strategy should be characterised by Roma participation and Roma influence, focusing on enhancing and continuously monitoring Roma access to human rights at the local, regional and national level. The overall goal of the twenty-year strategy is for a Roma who turns 20 years old in 2032 to have the same opportunities in life as a non-Roma. The rights of Roma who are then twenty should be safeguarded within regular structures and areas of activity to the same extent as are the rights for twenty-year-olds in the rest of the population. This communication broadly follows proposals from the Delegation for Roma Issues in its report ‘Roma rights — a strategy for Roma in Sweden’ (SOU 2010:55), and is therefore also based on various rights laid down in international agreements on human rights, i.e.

MONICA JOHANSSON MONICA JOHANSSON MONICA JOHANSSON Organizing Policy A Policy Analysis starting from SMEs in Tuscany and the County of Jönköping Organizing Policy Organizing Policy The importance of small and medium size enterprises (SMEs) for economic A Policy Analysis starting from SMEs in Tuscany development is frequently debated. SMEs have been called “the backbone of the and the County of Jönköping European economy and the best potential source of jobs and growth”. Political intentions are expressed in numerous programmes, strategies, and organizations, all claiming that their objective is to assist SMEs. The purpose of the thesis is to explore the interaction between political aspirations and adequate solutions to SMEs’ challenges. The thesis adopts a comparative perspective, using two completely different cultural, institutional and historical contexts, the Italian region Tuscany and the County of Jönköping. The study follows bottom-up logic, starting off with interviewed businesspersons’ and other actors’ narratives on how they organize to face and deal with challenges and opportunities. The challenges and possibilities and the problem solving processes described by SMEs are outlined through the identification and description of four case studies. Narratives by businesspersons and other actors indicate that only a few of the aspirations and strategies expressed by politicians and decision makers, who elaborate the objectives of SME policy, actually reach enterprises. A gap seems to exist between aspirations and realization. The study suggests that an important part of the explanation to the missing link is found in the different lifeworlds of SMEs, politicians and other decision makers. How can the gap be bridged? The study concludes that policy is not statements only; it is organizing.
