Dwight’s Message “Sunday is the Lord’s DAY; not the Lord’s HOUR!” Church, This week, we remember with solemn effect, the happenings of 100 days ago when our community in Marysville was surprisingly shattered by the school shooting at Marysville-Pilchuck High school. Since then, day by day, we in the community here at Marysville, have had to pick up the pieces of our broken lives and go on. We can never know what caused such reaction. Was it pain or anguish? Was it worry or anxiety? Was it overwhelming life or depressing circumstances that resulted in the deaths of so many young people? We will never know! What we do know though, is that we are left to now gather the pieces together and from the broken parts of our lives, create some kind of mosaic of healing, of suffering, of grief, and of consolation. Tragedy batters on a community's spirit because no one is left unaffected. We are left with many unanswered questions, fearful of the future, and truly less trusting of each other - even members of families and dear friends. Tragedy of the innocent though, especially of the very young, creates that feeling in the pit of our stomachs - it wants to yell out and it wants to scream. Then once for all we want to BEG IT to go away, to BEG IT NOT be true. But, it is all true ! It did happen to us. It did happen in our community. Some of our children did die in the violence, in the unknowing and we are all left with faith as the ONLY foundation we stand on, the only true foundation left in the world that is constantly shifting because many of its morals and all its beliefs are built on sand and are bending towards selfishness and false free will. The Scriptures tell us, "With God, all things are possible!" And so, just based on that fact, we lift up to God the five of our children who have died, and we place them in God's hands, hands much more gentler than our own. So God will have to fix all this, as only He can - and in His inimitable way and in God's time. We hold on to our faith which tells us, "...life is changed not ended for when our bodies lie in death, a new dwelling is made ready for us in heaven." (Prayers for the Dead I, Roman Missal) It is with this hope that we pray ETERNAL REST for all of them, extreme consolation to their parents and siblings who miss them the most, consolation for their families and friends, and healing for our community of Marysville. May such a tragedy NEVER HAPPEN AGAIN among us. May our children, each and all, be protected from wanton hurt and pain. May we support the most vulnerable among us and all have a good outlet for what pain they endure. And let us LOVE EACH OTHER... WITH GOD'S OWN PRECIOUS LOVE! I AM HERE TO LOVE YOU! God Bless, Fr.
