    ARGYLL & BUTE COUNCIL MID ARGYLL, KINTYRE AND ISLAY AREA COMMITTEE DEVELOPMENT SERVICES 7th July 2004 THE GAELIC RING 1. SUMMARY 1.1. An informal meeting took place in Oban during the week of last year’s Royal National Mod festival, involving some of the members of the Oban, Lorn and the Isles Area Committee and the Western Isles Council, at which matters of joint interest were discussed. 1.2. Among the items of mutual interest raised was the concept of creating a tourism marketing initiative which could be called ‘The Gaelic Ring’ which would be aimed at linking the Gaelic-speaking areas of the Western Seaboard of the mainland with the Argyll and Highland islands and the Hebridean chain of the Western Isles. The links would be physical (transportation links) and cultural (themes – music/dance/heritage etc), and could be promoted in the first instance by local partnerships assembling programmes of events which could be accessed using journeys within the existing Caledonian MacBrayne Network, not dissimilar to CalMac’s ‘Island Hopscotch’ travel packages. 1.3 The Gaelic Ring should be a carefully constructed tourism marketing effort developed through partnership working between Argyll & Bute Council, The Highland Council, Western Isles Council, the respective Area Tourist Boards, the HIE Network and Caledonian MacBrayne. 2. Recommendation 2.1. That the Mid Argyll, Kintyre and Islay Area Committee supports the development of the ‘Hebridean Gaelic Ring’ (Cearcall na Gaidhlig) initiative, and 2.2. That the Director of Development Services be authorised to co-ordinate and develop the concept in conjunction with other appropriate agencies and in close co-operation with the corresponding agencies in the Highland Council area and the Western Isles.

This means it is really easy to get to and from the University if you want to go back home, travel around Scotland or go further afield. The University was founded in 1796 by John Anderson. There are about 15000 undergraduate students at the University making it the 3rd biggest in Scotland (behind Edinburgh and Glasgow). It has a gender mix of 52% female and 48% male although some courses can be skewed one way or the other. The University was awarded the Times Higher Education ‘University of the Year’ award for the second time in 2019 (previously won in 2012). We also won the award for Widening Participation or Outreach Initiative of the Year for our Breaking Barriers initiative which helps young people with a learning disability gain university qualification and work experience.     Strathclyde & Central Car Club Trial Terms and conditions 1. Organisations taking part can select either Co-wheels or Enterprise as the car club operator whose vehicles they wish to trial. Energy Saving Trust will allocate trials on this basis, subject to the availability of vehicles. 2. The use of a car club vehicle during the trial is for up to 12 days (i.e. two working weeks and one weekend) and a maximum of 3,000 miles per organisation, per trial. 3. Energy Saving Trust will also cover the cost of the DVLA check/membership fee for up to a maximum of 10 members per participating organisation, per trial. 4. Trials will be offered on the basis of one per organisation although it may be possible to participate in a further trial should there be demand within an organisation. This will be at Energy Saving Trust’s discretion and will be subject to car club vehicle availability. 5. All the normal terms and conditions between the car club operator and member will apply and insurance will be provided by the car club operators. 6. Where possible both car clubs will provide vehicles based at existing locations, however if the organisation trialling car club use can provide safe and secure parking for the duration of the trial, the operators will move car club vehicles anywhere within the Strathclyde and Central region to facilitate the trial. 7. The Strathclyde and Central region covers the following local authority areas: Clackmannanshire, East Dunbartonshire, East Renfrewshire, Falkirk, Glasgow City, Inverclyde, North Lanarkshire, Renfrewshire, Stirling, South Lanarkshire and West Dunbartonshire.

Role of Liaison Group 1.1 The group will be known as the Willow Wind Farm Community Liaison Group (WWFCLG), hereafter referred to in this document as “the CLG”. The proposed Good Energy Project will be referred to as the “project” for the remainder of this document. 1.2 The aim of the CLG is to provide a forum for discussion and the exchange of information in regards to the development, construction and operation of the proposed project.     Corranbuie & Skipness Land Management Plan Summary Corranbuie & Skipness LMP was approved on 30-1-12017 and runs for 10 years. Vision Corranbuie and Skipness are two adjoining forests, see map 1 Location, lying immediately to the south of the village of Tarbert on Loch Fyne, linked by open hill land rising to over 350m at the highest point. Loch Fyne forms the majority of the eastern boundary while the western area is adjacent to elevated heath and private forestry plantations. Tarbert and Skipness are the closest settlements and the nearest transport link is the A83T which links Tarbert with Campbeltown. Ferry routes run close by from Tarbert to Portavadie, Claonaig to Arran and Kennacraig to Islay. Tarbert is an important tourist hub, with access provision into the forest from the village. The Kintyre Way runs through the forest. The eastern coastal strip is noted for its designated Atlantic oakwoods. The total combined management area is 2996.8ha. The primary objectives for the plan area are • Economic and sustainable timber production, including windblow clearance. • PAWS restoration. • Development of habitat networks. • Landscape improvement. • Enhancement and protection of Tarbert to Skipness Coast SSSI and Tarbert Woods SAC. • Construction of new forest roads. • Enhancement of the Kintyre Way. • Protection and enhancement water features and water supplies. • Delivery of Deep Peat policy outcomes • Contribution to renewables targets through hydro-scheme construction. • Protection and enhancement of cultural heritage assets. • To
