Shri Amarnath Yatra | 03 Nights / 04 Days HIGHLIGHTS Srinagar : Mughal gardens | Dal Lake | Nishat Bagh Sonamarg : Avantipur Temple ITINERARY Day 01 Srinagar – Sonmarg (115 kms / 3 .5 hours) On arrival at Srinagar airport (on your own), meet our representative and drive directly to Sonmarg. The distance of about 115 kms will be covered in about 3 ½hrs. Rest of the day free at Sonmarg for acclimatization and prepare for next day’s trip to Amarnath Cave. Dinner & overnight stay will be in Sonmarg. Overnight : Hotel Glacier Height or similar in Sonmarg Meals : Dinner Day 02 Sonamarg – Baltal – Amarnath Cave – Baltal – Sonamarg – Srinagar After early breakfast, drive to Baltal to board the chopper from helipad to Panchtarni. Further, Trek for 6 kms from Panchtarni helipad to the holy cave. The route is ascending right up to the cave. Have a dip in the ice water of Amarnath stream, which flows outside the cave. Inside the cave there is scenery of calm tranquility of white and glistering three massive Lingams stand erect symbol of Lord Shiva, Parvathi and Ganesh. After darshan, trek back to Panchtarni for return helicopter ride back to Baltal / Sonamarg. From here, drive to Srinagar. Dinner and overnight stay will be in Srinagar. Overnight : Hotel Royal Batoo / Hotel Aksa or Similar in Srinagar Meals : Breakfast and Dinner Day 03 Srinagar – Gulmarg – Srinagar (90 kms / 3 ½ hours) After breakfast, depart for full day excursion to Gulmarg (Meadows of Flowers). Enjoy beautiful snow capped peaks and gondola ride (Till 1st level). Later you can take a walk around Gulmarg and enjoy beautiful flowers. Late afternoon, drive back to Noor Jehan. All the gardens are situated on the bank of Dal Lake with the Zabarwan Srinagar. On reaching, cover the sightseeing scheduled for Mughal Gardens visiting Mountains in the background. The distance from Srinagar to the said gardens is about Nishat Bagh (Abode of pleasure) built by Asif Khan brother in law of Jehangir in 12 and 15 kms respectively. Enroute visit carpet-weaving factory. Dinner & overnight 1632 AD. And Shalimar Bagh (Abode of love) built by Jehangir for his wife Empress will be in the hotel in Srinagar. Overnight : Hotel Royal Batoo / Hotel Aksa or Similar in Srinagar Meals : Breakfast and Dinner Day 04 After breakfast, enjoy Shikara ride on Dal Lake visiting floating market and vegetable gardens. Later transfer to Srinagar airport to board flight for onward destination. It may vary upon the traffic and road conditions. Do’s: • Prepare for the Yatra by achieving a high level of Physical Fitness. You are advised to start at least a month prior to the Yatra at least a 4-5km Morning / Evening walk. For improving the oxygen efficiency of your body, you should start doing deep breathing exercises and Yoga, particularly Pranayam. • Your journey shall involve trekking across high mountains, facing strong cold winds. You must carry (i) adequate woollen clothing; (ii) a small umbrella (preferably one which is tied with an elastic band around your head and supported by a strap around the chin); (iii) windcheater; (iv) raincoat; (v) waterproof trekking shoes; (vi) torch; (vii) walking stick; (viii) cap (preferably a monkey cap); (ix) gloves; (x) jacket; (xi) woollen socks; (xii) trousers (preferably a waterproof pair). These items are essential as the climate is highly unpredictable and changes abruptly from sunny weather to rain and snow. The temperature can sometimes abruptly fall to 5 degrees Celsius or lower. • For Ladies: saree is not a suitable dress for the Yatra. Salwar Kameez, pant-shirt or a track suit will be better. Ladies who are more than 6 week pregnant shall not be allowed to undertake the pilgrimage.Keeping in view the tough nature of the trek, children below 13 year in age and elderly persons above the age of 75 years shall not be permitted to undertake the pilgrimage. • It would be better if the porter / horses / ponies carrying your luggage travel just in front or behind you, as you may suddenly need something from your baggage. • During the Yatra from Pahalgam / Baltal onwards, you should keep spare clothes/ eatables in a suitable water proof bag to ensure against their getting wet. • Carry a water bottle, dry fruits, roasted grams / channa, toffees /gur (jiggery), chocolates, etc for use during the journey. • Carry some cold cream / Vaseline / sunscreen to protect your hands /face against sunburn etc. • You should not trek alone. Always travel in a group and ensure that all those comprising the group, walking in front of you or in the rear, always remain in your sight, to ensure against your being separated from them. • To enable prompt action being taken in case of any emergency, you should keep in your pocket a note containing the name / addresses / mobile telephone number of a member of your group with whom you are travelling. DAY 02 : SONMARG - NEELGRATH - AMARNATH JI - NEELGRATH – SONMARG. After early breakfast short drive of 15 Kms will take you to Baltal (Helipad) Baltal- Panchtarni –Baltal helicopter ride. The Helicopter start operating at 06.00 Hrs (Weather Permitting). Panchtaranis approx 6 Kms from Holy Cave, you can go there by Foot or can hire Palki/Pony at your own cost. After darshan return back to Panchtarani to board helicopter to Baltal. Return back to Sonmarg. Dinner & overnight stay at Srinagar. DAY 03: SONMARG - SRINAGAR ~ FULL DAY LOCAL SIGHTSEEING OF SRINAGAR. After breakfast leave Srinagar C/In Houseboat / Hotel Welcome drink (Kashmiri Kahwa).Afternoon local sightseeing tour to famous Nishat Garden known as ‘Garden of pleasure’ built in 16th century (1633) by Mughal Emperor Asif Khan.Then visiting Shalimar Garden known as ‘Garden of love’ built in 16th century (1619) by Mughal Emperor Jahangir for his beloved wife Noor Jehan or (Mehr-un-Nissa) and then pay visit to famous Pari Mahal & Shankaracharya Temple situated on top of Hill where you can have a look of whole Srinagar City. In the evening enjoy the Shikara ride on The DalLake to enjoy the beauty that God has graced this city with which is often compared to Venice. Executive Summary Jammu & Kashmir experienced one of the worst floods in the past 60 years, during first week of September 2014, due to unprecedented and intense rains. The Jhelum River and its tributaries were in spate and caused extensive flooding in the region. The Decision Support Centre (DSC) of NRSC in collaboration with Department of Environment & Remote Sensing, J&K took necessary action on satellite data acquisition and processing and kept a close watch on the flood situation. All possible data from Indian Remote Sensing (IRS) satellites, as well as foreign satellites, covering Kashmir valley were obtained and analyzed. Rapid flood mapping and monitoring was done on almost daily basis and the flood inundation information was prepared. In addition, cumulative flood inundation, flood progression and recession maps were also prepared. Flood inundation simulation study was done using CARTO-DEM for Jhelum River to identify the possible flood affected areas and the same was uploaded on Bhuvan portal.

Bhat Almost every part of India is known for many a sacred shrine, but the Amarnath Cave embossed in the snowy valley of Kashmir reveals the unique sight of natural Ice Linga of Lord Shiva perched on a glacial gorge which waxes and wanes with the movements of the moon. According to a common belief, it reaches the maximum height on Purnima in the month of Shravan (July-August), when Shiva is supposed to have divulged to Parvati the secret of salvation. On this day thousands of pilgrims negotiating the most difficult ridges arrive at the holy cave for Dharshan of the Lord. The pilgrimage of thousands of devotees to the far way cave of Amarnath, nestled in a glacial gorge of the western Himalayas, through some of the most charming scenery in the world, is fascinating in the extreme. One is stuck with wonder at the quiet and ordinary way in which a canvas town springs up with incredible rapidity of colours and of all shapes and sixes and broad streets running through the middle, and all vanishing as quickly at the break of dawn when the whole army of pilgrimages set out on the march again.
