Miguel, owner of Miguel’s Baja Grill, has been with our GuestGuide family from early on as the sales and distribution manager for Moab. Miguel was born and raised in Baja California Sur, Mexico where he was a guide for a sea kayaking and SCUBA diving company. He came to Moab in 1999 and fell in love with the natural diversity of the area. The available activities made the decision to leave Baja and move permanently to Moab easy. Now, he is an avid mountain biker and enjoys sharing his love of the area with visitors.

BOULDERING This is similar to climbing in that it also requires concentration, problem solving, and upper body and leg strength; however, the climber is not roped. The “problems” (cracks in the rock) are lower to the ground so participants spot each other and use thick crash pads below the climber in case someone falls. A great area for this is on Utah Hwy 128, seven miles east of Moab. NOT A SOLO SPORT Unless you plan on free climbing, climbing alone is virtually impossible. If you are new to it, hiring a guide is the way to go, especially since they can provide the essential equipment you will need: ropes, a harness, climbing shoes, a helmet, and carabiners. Guides are familiar with knot tying and the best routes, which is critical. Guides will also make your climb much more pleasant. DID YOU KNOW? • Longest Arch in North America - Landscape Arch has the longest span of any arch in North America and an opening measured at 306ft (longer than a football field). • Tallest Opening - The southern span of Double Arch soars 144ft above ground level. • Balanced Rock - The massive sandstone boulder perched atop the pedestal is estimated to weigh 3,577 tons. • Arch or Natural Bridge? An arch is considered to be natural only if it has an opening at least three feet wide. Natural bridges are formed by running water and are rarer than arches, which result from a variety of other erosional forces. This is also the reason bridges tend to be in canyons, sometimes quite hidden, whereas arches are usually high and exposed, as they are often the last remnants of rock cliffs and ridges.
