Alien Middle Scale Comparison Chart Size Analysis for alien Ships of Scale 2 to 9

This is my Scale estimates of the ships in the Eaglemoss Alien Starships picture (posted on the Wixiban website as of March 2021). The ships below are listed in rough order by horizontal order, starting from the top left of the page (so left-to-right, line-by-line, just like reading a page of text). My rough sense of Scale is as follows: Ship Length Scale 0 to 20 meters 1 20 to 100 meters 2 100 to 240 meters 3 240 to 400 meters 4 400 to 600 meters 5 600 to 800 meters 6 800 to 1400 meters 7 1400 to ~1800 meters 8 More than 1800 meters 9+

Keep in mind, these are NOT exact numbers! (Y’know, obviously.) I had to eyeball each and every ship in all three pictures and decide if they had sufficient mass to qualify as a particular Scale or another. A few ships had a thin, needle-like design that, while they had a sufficient length to qualify as a higher Scale, they didn’t look as if they had the sufficient mass for that Scale; thus, I had to downgrade them in Scale. I found a number of ships that struck me as being right on the borderline of adjacent Scales, so I had to make a judgment call (sometimes based on additional factors where available) as to which Scale those ships belonged. A detailed discussion of my approach to Scale is in the Federation Middle Scale document.

What’s with the Warbird? You’ll likely notice a supposed discrepancy right off: the D’deridex-class Warbird and its Scale of 7 instead of 6 in the corebook rules. This is for several reasons: 1. The original corebook assumed the D’deridex was roughly only 1,000 meters long, rather than its official length of 1,353 meters which is almost twice the length of a Galaxy-class. 2. Even though the D’deridex has a lot of empty space in its center, it still seems to outmass a Galaxy-class, so much so that I was never convinced that a fight between a Galaxy and a D’deridex would be an even fight. 3. A D’deridex is almost as large as Deep Space 9, so claiming a fight between a Galaxy and a ship almost large enough to match a space station known to fight off entire fleets would be an even fight seems particularly ridiculous to me.

Technically, this is under 240 meters which Beacon of Kahless should make it Scale 3, but it does seem to have Scale 3 enough mass to rate Scale 4. Besides, I don’t want 120m in length to downgrade such an iconic Star Trek ship. Its

published stats say it’s Scale 4 and thus a match for a TOS Scale 4 Constitution. It’s more trouble Klingon IKS Negh’Var to change than it’s worth. Scale 6 682.32m in length

Besides, as with the D-7 above, it’s 371.88m in length too much trouble to change such an iconic ship. Klingon Bird-of-Prey (ST: Discovery)

What convinced me that for Scale 8, but it is wide enough and the Vastam was Scale 7 is the fact (according massive enough to rate as Scale 8. to Memory Beta) that it has the same crew complement as the D’deridex: 1,500 crewmembers.

Voth Research Vessel Promellian Battlecruiser Scale 3 Scale 6 130m in length 600m in length I was wavering between Scale 5 and 6 for the Orion Scout Ship (23nd C) Promellian Battlecruiser. This ship seems to Scale 3 just straddle the border between scales. It 110m in length doesn’t quite strike me as massive enough as a Galaxy (Scale 6) but its length of 600 meters Void Ship just puts it over the top to reach Scale 6 in my Scale 2 humble opinion. 75m in length
