For me to do a good job as president, I rely on the expertise, advice, and suggestions from the Board of Directors and YOU, the alumni, the heart of this organization. I welcome your perspectives and look forward to building new relationships. Our beloved school celebrated its 65th birthday in May at the Renaissance Bangkok Ratchaprasong Hotel, graduated its senior class, and awarded two scholarships that the ISB Foundation sponsors to worthy ISB students. The passing of the King of Thailand saddened each of us as we reflected on our time in Thailand, our experiences, and the love we felt and continue to feel for the people of Thailand, our King, our Queen, and their family. Even if we were only in Thailand for a year, we feel a deep connection to its culture and a loyalty to our school, ISB. It is that connection that lures us back together every other year to partake in the biennial reunion festivities. David Wilkerson, his reunion committee, and advisors have worked diligently to find the perfect place for our 2018 Reunion. Scouting locations, vetting venues, negotiating contracts, and yes…taking video footage of each location to share with the Board, the committee, and the advisors all attribute to our decision in se- lecting a reunion location. What are the requirements for selecting a reunion venue: LOCATION…LOCATION…LOCATION! Many of our alumni extend their time at the reunion to include opportunities to sight see and enjoy the area’s attractions. COST! Price is tantamount to choosing a location: Is the location easily accessible and affordable by plane? Is it acces- sible by car?     Duang Prateep Foundation Monthly Newsletter for December 2017 Azamara Journey On December 13, seven crew members of the Royal Caribbean International Family, sailing under the Azamara Journey flag and led by Ms. Katie Watts, cruised into the Duang Prateep Foundation and Kindergarten on a mission of goodwill. They were docked at the nearby Klong Toey Port and wanted to learn more about life for the urban poor and to provide some support. The crew undertakes similar activities for charities across the globe, and during their visit with us they participated in our innovative English lessons for the kindy-kids as well as serving lunch to all the youngsters. They also toured a part of Klong Toey slum, where the children live. At the end of the day, we bid the Azamara Journeyers calm seas and fair skies for the rest of their journey – and hope to welcome them back when they next drop anchor in port. An Apple a Day With two dance performances, our kindergarten children recently welcomed prominent event-organizer Sombat Tirasaroj (Tue), famous actor and TV personality Opal Panisara and their team. The celebrities were on a mission of health- promotion and had brought premium-grade apples (on behalf of Wa Theater Premium Fruits Company) to distribute to the children. Although Thailand is blessed with many excellent tropical fruits, such high-grade cool climate fruit was a rare treat for the youngsters. The children were also thrilled to be served lunch by the well-known visitors.
