FOR 1980 AFTER five years of being a one-of-a-kind record store, Penny Lane has finially become a two-of-a-kind record store.

A second Pcenny Lane is now in operation on 'Ci ty I S north side. The store, located across from the Antioch Shopping Center, at 2631 N.E. Vivion Road, was formerly Budget Tapes and Records.

Mark Olson, Penny Lane North's new manager, will utilize the experience he has aquired as the manager of the for­ VIDEO mer Budget store for the past three years.

Musso COlllix The new store will be able to expand its selection in part because of the relationship between Penny Lane and the House Distributors, Penny Lane I s parent company. Christm.as Special The House is a distributor nationally of nearly 400 in­ dependent labels specializing in , , Bluegrass, Sun Ra Interview· Country, Classical and music. The new Penny Lan~ will no doubt call upon the diverse talents of the original Penny Lane, a group which scans the spectrum from Rage n I Rick to Lonesum Chuck Haddix.

Another" added advantage the new store will bring to the north of the river area will be that of a ticket outlet for Uptown Theatre and other area events--forming sort of a musical bridge over the Mighty Mo.

POOR FAIR AVERAGE OR GOOD BETTER THAN AVERAGE; VERY GOOD STEVE GOODMAN/HotSpot EXCELLENT Asylum 297 $7.98 list Produced by Peter Bernetta and Rick Chudacoff Steve Goodman has been a mainstay in the record business for many years but has Le Ro( never had a hot selling record. Chances are this one won't sell either b~t not because of a lack of good material. Goodman is an excellant song writer and MICHAEL STANLEY BAND/Heartland always uses the best musicians around. The only trouble it has is a few weak songs, but most of them are very tasty. The one really good song THE O-~'VOV; SEAL OF PLEASURABLE on this LP is "Ah! Leah!", which on the first listen is okay, but each listen LISTENING after it, builds and really grows on you. It's a really catchy little ditty. PAGE 4 THE PENNY PITCH

PAM WINDO & THE SHADES/It Bearsville 3479 $7.98 list Produced by Jan Kimmet, Gary & Pam Windo This is one of those records that caught my fancy on the first listen. It's new wave with really good sax work. Several of the songs are very danceab1e and there is a lot of humor in the songs including /Chinatown one of my favs "I Want Your Body, To WB 3496 $7.98 list Hell With Your Mind." Produced by Thin Lizzy & Kit Woolvern This record is really hard driven rock and roll. It's definitely the best thing since Jail Break, if not better. is a very distinctive vocalist and the material is really happening on this record. What really makes this record are the leads by Scott Gorham and who really come on strong on this one. I definitely recommend this DARRYL RHOADES ORCHESTRA/Burgers from one to Thin Lizzy fans and anybody else Heaven that likes hard rocking tunes.
