Carrick-on-Suir is located in the south east of County and is a 15–20 minute drive from the M9 . It is in a spectacular setting, nestled in the lush valley between to the north-west and the foothills of the to the south.

The arts scene is alive and well in Carrick-on-Suir with busy programmes of events (from theatre to musicals) on offer at the Brewery Theatre and the Musical Society. Some of the town’s most famous residents include , members of the world-famous folk group Makem and Clancy, and cyclist Sean Kelly, an Irish former professional road bicycle racer (who gives his name to the central town square). Carrick-on-Suir Heritage Centre, housed in a former Protestant church, holds a wealth of information on the town’s origins as a walled Norse settlement and is an ideal spot in which to get your bearings before exploring. The Butler Trail, a trail of Tipperary's Medieval Towns takes in Ormond Castle, the Old Bridge and St. Nicholas’s Church, amongst other landmarks. For visiting golfers, Carrick-on-Suir Golf Course is a challenging 18-hole course located on the hills overlooking Carrick, and for walkers of all ages, a recently refurbished riverside walk along a former canal tow-path to makes for a wonderful family outing.
