A number of colleagues are about to leave DWP - or indeed may have already gone - as part of a voluntary exit scheme or transfer to another government department. If this affects you or anyone you know, please read on. HASSRA is introducing a new National Associate Membership scheme which enables people to retain their ties with HASSRA after they leave their current employment. So anyone moving to another employer within government or leaving the civil service altogether on a voluntary or compulsory exit scheme can stay within the HASSRA family and continue to enjoy a vast array of sporting and leisure activities and save £££s with our discounts and other membership benefits. That includes the option to join the fabulous HASSRA Lottery. So if you are about to move on and are interested in keeping up your membership, please visit http://intralink/1/corp/sites/hassra/about/DWP_T802953.asp#TopOfPage or complete the attached application form, and we’ll do the rest. And if you know of someone who has already gone, why not let them know about this new scheme? And remember, HASSRA is your sports and leisure association. No other organisation offers you and your family so much for so little. So don’t delay in completing your application and carry on enjoying all the benefits of the best sports and leisure association anywhere. Best wishes, Ann Cook PS: Anyone retiring from the civil service and about to receive a civil service pension already qualifies for continuing membership as a retired member. Historic Houses Association Card Around 1500 stately homes, castles and gardens are members of the Historic Houses Association in the UK and over 40 of these are open to the public in Yorkshire. You can gain entrance to many of these, including Newby Hall, Burton Constable Hall and Castle Howard using one of the HASSRA Leeds Historic Houses Association cards. Check the Historic Houses Association website, www.haa.org.uk, to find out which places offer free entry to card holders and tell Peter Blinston ([email protected] ) the days you’d like to use the card. Then it’s as simple as picking up one of our four cards and dropping it off when you’ve finished. Harewood House Card Harewood House lies between Leeds and Harrogate and always has events and displays suitable for all the family. HASSRA Leeds has entry cards for members to borrow that will allow free family entry to the grounds and house. Special events and exhibitions may incur an additional cost on the day - see www.harewood.org for more information. If you’d like to take your family for a trip to Harewood House on HASSRA Leeds, contact Lisa Taylor at the Forum to book one of our three cards. Please note; these cards are popular and members are requested to return them promptly by the agreed date to allow others to enjoy them also. Share your Photos and win! Whether you are a budding David Bailey or simply love taking pictures wherever you are, you could win £30 if you send us a photo of your day out when borrowing one of these cards or attending a HASSRA Leeds event or trip. Just email your photos to [email protected] and let us know your details and when and where it was taken. We’ll publish it on the HASSRA Leeds website, www.hassraleedsnewsletter.com where you find the monthly newsletters. At the end of every season, we’ll ask readers to vote for their favourite photo and you could win £30 to fund your next day out!
