For further information contact the UOW Library: [email protected] Jurassic to cenozoic tectonics of the zagros orogen in northwestern Iran Abstract The Zagros Mountains of Iran formed by continental collision from closure of the Neo-Tethyan Ocean. The Zagros Orogen underlying the mountain range reflects a much longer history with the Pan-African basement and Phanerozoic successions. New mapping, radiometric ages, and stratigraphic analyses have enabled advances in our understanding of the Jurassic to Cenozoic tectonic history. The northwestern Zagros Orogen consists of three belts: (1) the Zagros Fold and Thrust Belt, divided into the outer Zagros Simply Folded Belt and the inner High Zagros Belt; (2) the Zagros Suture Zone including radiolarite, ophiolite, and Bisotun limestone thrust sheets; and (3) the Sanandaj-Sirjan Zone, which contains abundant metamorphic rocks. Late Cretaceous ophiolites of the Kermanshah region are part of the outer ophiolite belt of the Zagros Orogen and have formed in passive margin and supra-subduction zone settings. Major events include early Mesozoic rifting, Jurassic subduction followed by a more cryptic interval of subduction in the Cretaceous, multiple ophiolite emplacement on the Arabian margin in the Late Cretaceous to Eocene, and collision of central Iran and the Arabian margin in the Oligocene with final closure of the shallow Tethyan seaway in the mid-Miocene.

  • Predicting Environmentally Suitable Areas for Anopheles Superpictus
Hanafi-Bojd et al. Parasites & Vectors (2018) 11:382 https://doi.org/10.1186/s13071-018-2973-7 RESEARCH Open Access Predicting environmentally suitable areas for Anopheles superpictus Grassi (s.l.), Anopheles maculipennis Meigen (s.l.) and Anopheles sacharovi Favre (Diptera: Culicidae) in Iran Ahmad Ali Hanafi-Bojd1,2*, Mohammad Mehdi Sedaghat1, Hassan Vatandoost1,2, Shahyad Azari-Hamidian3 and Kamran Pakdad1,4 Abstract Background: Malaria is an important mosquito-borne disease, transmitted to humans by Anopheles mosquitoes. The aim of this study was to gather all records of three main malaria vectors in Iran during the last decades, and to predict the current distribution and the environmental suitability for these species across the country. Methods: All published documents on An. superpictus Grassi (s.l.), An. maculipennis Meigen (s.l.) and An. sacharovi Favre during 1970–2016 in Iran were obtained from different online data bases and academic libraries. A database was created in ArcMap 10.3. Ecology of these species was analyzed and the ecological niches were predicted using MaxEnt model. Results: Anopheles superpictus (s.l.) is the most widespread malaria vector in Iran, and exists in both malaria endemic and non-endemic areas. Whereas An. maculipennis (s.l.) is reported from the northern and northwestern parts, Anopheles sacharovi is mostly found in the northwestern Iran, although there are some reports of this species in the western, southwestern and eastern parts. The area under receiver operating characteristic (ROC) curve (AUC) for training and testing data was calculated as 0.869 and 0.828, 0.939 and 0.915, and 0.921 and 0.979, for An.

  • The Status of the Principles of Land Ethics in Monitoring the Eco-Hydrological Effects of Civil Projects
Iranian Journal of Engineering Geology Winter 2020, Vol.12, No.4 The Status of the Principles of Land Ethics in Monitoring the Eco-Hydrological Effects of Civil Projects V. Joudaki*1, R. Ajalloeian2, N. Mobarghaei-Dinan3, A. Sohrabi-Bidar4, A. Aalianvari5 Abstract The main source of environmental challenges relates to the moral thinking of humans towards the earth. Therefore, the present study aims to investigate the role of the principles of the theory of land ethics in monitoring the environmental impacts of civil projects. The present study is a field study. The research community includes all human communities, water resources and ecosystems (vegetation, animals, etc.) within the boundaries of the Ghomroud tunnel project site. The data was collected using a field observations method and a series of field visits of site design (geological survey in the city of Aligoudarz). Data analysis has been done with the help of descriptive statistics that have been interpreted in terms of land's theory of ethics. The results of the studies indicate that the Ghomroud tunnel excavation operations, to changed the hydrology regime (the reduction dubai of springs and wells), migrating villagers , Weakening of agriculture and the local economy network, Impact on the habitat of plant-animal species, the impact on the region's image )the potential of the geotourism industry( led. Hydrogeological regime change in the region and social consequences, was related by geological conditions during excavation (existence of crushed zones, folding, slope of layers, lithological changes, etc.) in site design (geological zone of Sanandaj, Sirjan). Other implications of the project are also indirectly related to the geological conditions of the region.

The 1 st International Applied Geological Congress, Department of Geology, Islamic Azad University - Mashad Branch, Iran, 26-28 April 2010 Study of genesis of masteroon intrusive bodies( Northwest of Aligudarz) Sayed Vahid Shahrokhi, **Mahdi Khodaparast, *Bahari, Fariba *Geology group, Faculty of Science, Islamic Azad University , Khorramabad branch **Geology group, Faculty of Science, Islamic Azad University , Meymeh branch Abstract In a region of lorestan county (Northern Aligoudarz) intrusive bodies with upper cretaceouse age have been formed; that altogether have northwest- southeast trend. The rocks of these bodies have composite within the range of granite to granodiorite and are intensely mylonitized by later tectonic events .These mass granitoides have intruded within a series of rock units which causes the formation of a contact metamorphic aureole in them. The oldest existent rock units included a thick sequence of alternated shale and sandstone of upper Triassic- Jurassic age, which have possessed a mild metamorphic. Therewith , the above thick rock sequence shows contact metamorphism by emplacement of intrusive bodies in some place , which its reflection is the formation of semi-schists, cordierite hornfels and schists. These rocks compositionally belong to the Calc-alkaline and based on computer-criteria, in orogenic belt, follow the tectonically regime of the VAG. The studies shows that the required vapor pressure for the formation of igneous bodies have been 1.5-2 kbr and the forming temperature sets between 700 to 750C these mass granitoides are S- type granites and depth of their. Forming is upper 30 km. Key word: Trend, Metamorphism, Calcalkaline, VAG, Tectonical regim , Granitoid Introduction Masteroon granitoid bodies with the coordination (coordinates latitude) of (33 25 ,33 33 N and 49 27, 49 46 E )is located in 15 km, north of Aligoudarz city and north east of Lorestan province.
