Hij was beroepsrenner in de jaren 50, 60 en 70 en behaalde 271 overwinningen op de weg én 805 overwinningen op de piste. Zo won hij twee keer de Ronde van Vlaanderen, twee keer Parijs-Roubaix, twee keer de Waalse Pijl, één keer Parijs-Brussel en één keer Milaan-San Remo. Hij werd drie keer Belgisch wegkampioen en 3 keer wereldkampioen. Daarbovenop was hij de snelste in verschillende étappes in de Ronde van Frankrijk, Italië en Spanje. This is her fourth year participating as part of the UCIMUN Conference Staff, previously serving as Assistant Director of Ad Hoc on Terror, Director of SOCHUM, and Director-General. She originally joined UCI’s MUN program because she wanted to continue intellectual discussions outside of STEM after participating in Speech and Debate throughout high school. Hana truly loves the MUN program at UCI because it allows her to improve upon skills such as public speaking and diplomacy while also providing her a family at UCI. Outside of her studies and MUN, Hana enjoys playing music, cooking, and playing basketball. Angie is a 3rd year Sociology and Political Science double major. She has been involved in MUN since freshman year of high school, and loved her experiences there so much she wanted to continue it onto college. She served as Secretary-General of her high school MUN club in her senior year and as a part of UCIMUN, has been an Assistant Director and a Director for General Assembly, and Under-Secretary-General of Mains.

Wielrennen hoort bij het DNA van Vlaanderen. ‘De koers’ maakt deel uit van onze canon, de verhalen en de geschiedenis die we samen willen delen en doorgeven aan volgende generaties. Vlaanderen koestert zijn wielerhelden, onze ‘flandriens’. De jonge avonturiers die het leven en de dood in de ast ontvluchtten. En op een fiets die we vandaag geen fiets maar een loodzwaar vehikel zouden noemen in een sneeuwstorm of onder een loden zon de Galibier en de Tourmalet bedwongen. Geen enkele andere sport belichaamt de heroïek en de tragiek van het leven zo intens en heftig als ‘de koers’. Wanneer onze held Wout van Aert tijdens een tijdrit in de Tour 2019 in een spandoek blijft haperen, grijpen we allemaal bang naar ons hart. Zomer 2019 verloren we de beloftevolle klimmer Bjorg Lambrecht, nauwelijks 22 jaar jong. Over zijn geboortedorp hing een sluier van niet te stelpen en door duizenden supporters gedeeld verdriet. Het wonderbaarlijke verhaal van de wederopstanding van Stig Broeckx laat evenmin niemand onberoerd.
