PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE 2015 - present BRITISH COLUMBIA INSTITUTE OF TECHNOLOGY Associate Dean, Building Design and Construction Technology • Applied Research: Helped secure funding equivalent to $90,000 US from the Urban Sustainability Directors Network, a not for profit organization comprising over 300 local governments in North America, and directed research for the pilot application of the ecoCity Footprint Tool, a sustainability assessment tool that I developed through my PhD research. The pilot was led by the City of Victoria and comprised four British Columbian municipalities, including the cities of Victoria and Vancouver. Helped secure funding equivalent to $40,000 CDN from the Vancouver Foundation for the Greenest City Grant to support development and piloting of a food consumption survey and development of a networking platform to support engagement of strategic stakeholders in implementation of the City’s Greenest City 2020 Action Plan “Lighter Footprint” goal. Led the research to develop the food consumption survey in support of improved local data collection to inform Vancouver’s ecological footprint assessment. Helped secure funding equivalent to $7,000 US from the Urban Sustainability Directors Network to pilot the application of the ecoCity Footprint Tool in Iowa City, Iowa. • Policy and Planning: Participated in workshops to scope the City of Vancouver’s “Enterprise Centre for Zero Emissions Buildings” and “Pathways to Net Zero Buildings” strategy talks with stakeholders from the building design and construction industries in preparation for introduction of a City of Vancouver bylaw requiring all new construction be net-zero ready by 2020. Ecocity World Summit 2015 Theme Track Chair: Urban Systems, Footprints and Metabolisms. • Project Management: Supported the Interior Design program
