Sydney Kings Game Changers Group Expression of Interest DALMENY PUBLIC SCHOOL Corner San Marino & Dalmeny Drives, Prestons, NSW, 2170 Phone: (02) 98269033 Fax: (02) 98267433 Email: [email protected] SYDNEY KINGS GAME CHANGER PROGRAM Dear Parents/Guardians, In some exciting news for our school, I have been selected as a Sydney Kings teacher ambassador. This is part of a new program the Sydney Kings are implementing into Primary Schools and only 20 schools have been selected to participate. As part of the program we will be interacting with the Sydney Kings Basketball team (players include Brad Newley, Jason Cadee, Andrew Bogut and Jerome Randle) via a media platform known as Flipgrid, as well as other activities and resources the school will have access to. The Sydney Kings are looking to create awareness for their sport and their brand across the school community through their ambassadors. As such I will keep you updated on news, events and offers. As part of the program I have booked a school visit, where the Sydney Kings will visit the school in November and run an exciting afternoon of activities. In order for the program to run successfully here at Dalmeny PS we will form an interest group that will run during some lunch times throughout Term 3 and Term 4. Students in this group will communicate with the Sydney Kings via Flipgrid and engage in problem solving tasks and basketball activities. Interested students in Year 3-6 are invited to return the note below to show their interest in participating in the program. Students who are selected MUST be allowed to participate in a range of communication activities, including making videos and have permission to publish photographs. (A separate permission note for this will be sent home to successful students). The Sydney Kings program will be a separate program to the Knockout Basketball Development Squad which will begin in a few weeks. (Note to follow) If your child is interested in joining this exciting new group, please return the form attached to Miss Moffat by Friday 7th September 2018. There is no cost to be a part of this program. The number of students in the group will be limited to 30. Miss Moffat Mr Reedie Game Changers Program School Ambassador Principal Educating Tomorrow’s Leaders SYDNEY KINGS GAME CHANGERS GROUP EXPRESSION OF INTEREST My child would like to participate in the Sydney Kings Game Changers group to be conducted during some lunch times in Term 3 and Term 4. Making Your Career in Basketball A guide to the Australian Basketball Pathway (with up to date information on scholarships to both Australian and US Universities) Using this Guide This guide provides general information on the pathway for young athletes in Australian basketball, with a particular focus options to combine playing basketball with studying at university. The importance of developing skills for a career outside of basketball cannot be overstated, as the life of any professional athlete is relatively short. Few athletes, in any sport, make enough money purely from playing to last the rest of their life. Basketball Australia would like to thank the following people who have provided assistance in developing this guide: Ms Judy Freudenberger, Senior EducationUSA Advisor Ms Megan Fritsch, ACE Mr Ian Stacker Ms Maureen Spencer-Gardner, Spencer-Gardner Education Consulting The various athletes who have provided case studies The section on scholarships that are available in the USA has been prepared from the most up to date information available to Basketball Australia at the time of preparing the guide. However, the rules and regulations that apply to college sports are complex and you should not rely upon the information in this guide being comprehensive nor up to date. This guide may be reproduced, copied and distributed for the purposes of providing information to young athletes, coaches and parents, however should not be relied upon. Each athlete should seek independent advice. © BA Limited, trading as Basketball Australia,
