ANNUAL REPORT OF ACTIVITIES FOR THE YEAR 2014 - 2015

In the name of Allah, the most beneficent and the most merciful. At the very outset, we raise our hearts in gratitude to the omnipotent spirit who is the beginning and end of all endeavours without whose blessings we can do nothing. Respected Chief guests of the day, other dignitaries on the dies and off the dies, my colleagues, my dear students. With all your permission, let me present before you the 45th annual report of MES Asmabi College for the academic year 2013 – 14. As I look back, this academic year has brought many accomplishments and also made us see the gaps in some areas where there is a definite scope for improvement. The new College Management Committee was formed on 21st May 2013 with Adv P K M Habeeb as the President, Mr K M Abdul Salam as the Secretary and Correspondent and Mr P H Ziyaudheen Ahamed as the Treasurer. The current strength of students is 1171 out of which 849 are girls. We have twelve undergraduate programmes; four post graduate programmes, one research programme and three career oriented courses. Our staff includes 18 Associate professors, 27 Assistant professors, 20 guest faculties and 17 Non teaching staff.

General Activities of College  The college celebrated World Environment Day on 5th June 2014  Conducted a NAAC sponsored National Conference on Role of Information & Communication Technology in Institutional Quality Enhancement-Analyzing Current Status and Exploring New Frontiers on 17th and 18th June 2014, organized by IQAC  The University Grant Commission and Dept Of Hindi, MES Asmabi College jointly organized a National Workshop on ICT for Teaching and Learning Hindi Language& Literature, on 19th &20th June 2014.  Reading Day Celebrations were held on 19th June 2014  Alumni Directory for the year 2014 was released by Dr A K Abdul Latheef, M.D, Modern Hospital on 24th June 2014

 UGC has sanctioned the following seminars  The Arab World: March towards Democracy and Turmoil to Dept of Political Science – Rs 1,00,000  Contemporary Asian Literatures in English: Exploration of Culture, Identity and Politics to PG Dept of English – Rs 55,000  Professional translation : Theory and Practice to Dept of Arabic – Rs 1,50,000  Eco concepts in the folk culture to Dept of Malayalam – Rs 1,20,000  150th Birth Anniversary of Sri Swami Vivekananda – Rs 1,45,000  UGC has sanctioned a General Development Assistance of Rs 21,94,500  UGC has sanctioned Rs 3,00,000 for Establishment of IQAC  Students and Teachers participated in the Anti Drugs Pledge held on 26th June 2014 at the College  NSS organized a Homoeo Medical Camp on 27th June 2014.  The meeting of Research Promotion Council was held on 27th June 2014  M.E.S Asmabi college organized Basheer Anusmaranam on 4th July 2014 in connection with the 20th Death Anniversary of Vaikom Muhammed Basheer  The Govt. of sanctioned two self financing courses viz. BSc Psychology and M.Com Marketing  The College Film Club screened the documentary movie “The Message” based on the life of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) on 9 July 2014 in connection with the holy month of Ramadan.  A counseling class was organized for the students on 10th July 2014. Smt Nishi Salam was the counselor.  A Ramzan speech was held on 14th July 2014. Sri Hazeeb Madani was the resource person.  First year Degree Classes were started on 22nd July 2014. An orientation programme was also conducted for the parents and students and the session was handled by Adv T K Kunjumon, Trainer, CIGI

 The Fine Arts Club organized an intercollegiate Mehandi Competition “Rajz ‘14” on 24th July 2014. 73 teams were participated in the competition  Alumni Meeting of Botany was held on 3rd August 2014  NSS organized an Awareness Programme on Anti Drugs on 7th August 2014  PTA General Body meeting was held on 12th August 2014  A Demo on Virtual Class room was held on 13th August 2014  Independence Day celebrations was held on 15th August 2014  Gold medal distribution & Scholarship distribution to meritorious students was held on 15th August 2014  Commerce Alumni Meet was held on 15th August 2014  Economics Alumni Meet was held on 15th August 2014  A function “Snehakootaayma” was organized by the college in connection with the Onam Celebrations on 5th September 2014. Sri P Surendran, famous writer was the chief guest. Also honoured the old aged people staying nearby to the college  The inauguration of Cyber Army Club was held on 22nd Sept 2014. Mr M Surendran, Circle Inspector, Crime Branch Ernakulam was the Chief Guest  The inauguration of Tourism Club was held on 25th September 2014. Sri K G Pransingh, Secretary, DTPC, Thrissur was the Chief Guest.  Cyber Army Club organized a silent procession against the use of alchahol and drug abuse on 30th September 2014  The Alumni Family meet was held on 2nd October 2014  The First year PG classes started on 7th October 2014  Dr Ajims P Mohammed has appointed as a member of inspection commission for BBA programme at MSTM College, Perinthalmanna by University of Calicut  Dr.Mohamed Nasser K.M, P.g department of botany successfully completed theOpen defense of his PhD viva held on the topic Ecology and Biodiversity of Fresh water Micro algae in the selected areas of Western Ghats on 9th October 2014 at M.G University Campus.

 Dr Ajims P Mohammed has attended the meeting of MES Intellectual forum at MES Ponnani College on 15th October 2014.  The College Union inauguration was held on 16th October 2014. Mr Aju Varghese, famous cine artist was the chief guest.  The I year MA classes commenced on 16 October , 2014  The staff and students of the college participated in the MES Golden Jubilee Announcement Rally at Kodungallur on 17th October 2014  MES Golden Jubilee Celebrations held on 20th and 21st October 2014 with variety of programmes  Honouring the former principals and staffs were held on 20th October 2014. Prof P.O.J Lebba, General Secretary, MES Kerala inaugurated the ceremony. Dr Kunjumuhammed Pulavath, Director, DIET was the keynote speaker  Entertainment programmes of students were inaugurated by Sri P T Kunjumuhammed, Former MLA and Famous film Director on 20th October 2014.  MES Golden Jubilee Seminar “Kodungallurinte Saamskaarika Parambariyavum Mathetharathvum” was inaugurated by Dr MGS Narayanan, the famous historian on 21st October 2014. Prof Kadavanad Mohammed, Correspondent and Chairman, Standing Committee on MES Colleges was the moderator of the seminar’  The Internet center was inaugurated by Adv V S Sunilkumar MLA on 21st October 2014.  The College bus key handover was done by Sri K K Abeedali, President, S N Puram Grama Panchayath on 21st October 2014.  Inter University soft ball tournament was held on 27th & 28th October 2014  College Union organized a music band show “Thaikoodam Bridge” on 29th October 2014  Observed the National Re-dedication day on 31st October 2014  Dr Ajims P Mohammed, Principal has attended a meeting of RUSA on 4th November 2014 at the Office of Kerala State Higher Education Council, Trivandrum  Dr Ajims P Mohammed, Principal has attended the meeting of Kerala Private College Management Association on 14th November 2014 at St Theresas College, Ernakulam.

 College PTA has sponsored 20 Malayala Manorama News paper to students and it was released by PTA Vice President Dr K K Naseer on 20th November 2014.  The College bus started operation from 21st November 2014  The Alumni Association of the college has organized a Blood Checkup Camp in association with Santhi Medical Centre on 2nd December 2014  The Staff and Students participated in the MES Golden Jubilee Seminar organized by MES Thrissur District Committee on 2nd December 2014  A career awareness programme was conducted by Kerala Institute of Travel and Tourism Studies (KITTS) under the auspices of Tourism Club on 5th December 2014  The fund raising programme of proposed college bus was inaugurated by Sri VA Hassan, Chairman Flora Group and alumni of the college on 11th December 2014  Smt Medha Patkar, famous environmentalist visited our college and inaugurated the Erudite Lecture Series “ Environmental Degradation – Issues and Challenges” on 13th December 2014. The college donated an amount of Rs 10,000/- to Narmada Bachaavo Aandholan”.  The Internatioal journal “Horizon” published by MES Asmabi College was released by Smt Medha Patkar, famous environmentalist on 13th December 2014.  The PG Dept of Economics has organized an ICSSR sponsored national seminar on “Empowerment of women on the light of globalised era in Kerala” on 17th & 18th December 2014. The seminar was inaugurated by Dr Khamarunneessa Anwar, Chair person, Social Welfare Board, Government of Kerala.  The College arranged a cancer awareness programme to the students, staffs, PTA, alumni and Public on 18th December 2014. Dr V P Gangadharan, famous Cancer Specialist, Lakeshore Hospital, Kochi was the resource person. The college donated an amount of Rs 64,145/- to Cochin Cancer Society.  NSS Special camp was held from 19th to 25th December 2014  The College organized a staff tour to Yercaud on 22nd & 23rd December 2014.  An amount of Rs 77,400/- was received as fund for Walk With Scholar(WWS) of Government of Kerala

 An amount of Rs 1,17,500/- was received as fund for Scholar Support Programme (SSP) of Government of Kerala  The Staff and students of the college participated in the Run Kerala Run on 20th January 2015 in connection with the National Games hosted by Kerala  The Staff and students participated in the Valedictory function of MES Golden Jubilee Celebrations held at Calicut on 22nd to 25th January 2015  3 water filters were purchased and installed under the financial assistance of UGC  Intercollegiate T-20 Cricket tournament was held on 28th and 29th January 2015. MES Asmabi College won the tournament against KKTM College, Pullut  The inspection for Autonomous Colleges was held on 30th and 31st January 2015  The University of Calicut awarded guide ship to Dr Tessy & Dr Hussain to our Botany research centre  Speech by Justice Rajinder Sachar on 2nd February 2015  World Wetland Day Celebrations on 2nd February 2015  Annual Sports Day Celebrations held on 3rd February 2015  Dr Ajims P Mohammed, Principal has attended the meeting of Board of Studies of BBA Programme on 5th February 2015 at University of Calicut  Dr Ajims P Mohammed, Principal has attended the meeting of Principals Council on 7th February 2015 at MES Kalladi College, Mannarkkad  Fine Arts Celebrations were held on 9th & 10th February 2015  Sri Sanand C Sadanand, Assistant Professor, Department of Politics and Sri Mohammed Areej E M, Assistant Professor, Department of Biochemistry have participated in the MES Golden Jubilee Quiz Competition for teachers held at MES Ponnani College, Ponnani and won the Ist position with a cash prize of Rs 7000/-  CCTV Installed in the college premises using the financial assistance from UGC  Dr Ajims P Mohammed, Principal was the Principal nominee from the Calicut University Region for the interview of Commerce teachers for MES Collegiate Service held at MES Womens College, Calicut on 13th & 14th February 2015  SN Puram Krishibhavan has sanctioned an amount of Rs60,000/ for Agricultural activities  Students Exchange programme by Dr M Ranjith 0n 13th February 2015  English Association Inauguration held on 18th February 2015  Students Exchange programme by Dr M Ranjith 0n 19th February 2015

General Activities of Departments  The Dept of Hindi conducted a National workshop on the topic ICT in teaching and learning Hindi language and literature on 19th and 20th June 2014  The Dept of Malayalam Conducted Vayana Dinam on 19th June 2014. They have arranged an interactive session with famous writer Sri T.K Gangadharan.  The Dept of Mathematics have conducted 2 Quiz programmes of 20 questions each (10 Maths questions & 10 general knowledge questions) on 10th June 2014 & 24th June 2014.  TheDept of Hindi has launched a Dept website https://sites.google.com/site/mesachindi on 19th June 2014.

 The Department of English co-ordinated ASAP SDE Residential Training Programme for 22 students from various colleges from 8th May to 31st May,2014. Dr. Bindu Jamal is the Course Director of the program. Najila T.Y, Sameera Haneef, Jameelathu K.A & Sabitha M.M were the Trainers of the same.  The Department of English conducted a Week long Reading Festival from 19th June to 25th June, 2014. Najila T.Y was the Convenor of the program. The following events were conducted as part of it. i. Meet the Author- The week- long celebrations were kicked oof with an interactive session with T.K Gangadaran, an indigenous novelist from Kodungallur. ii. Reading Corner – A niche was created in the English dept to offer a quiet spot to rediscover the pleasures of reading. A number of books and magazines were provided. It was also to be the venue for the various events to be conducted as part of the festival. iii. Chalk Board Splash – A forum for discussing the importance of reading was set up in the reading corner. iv. Wall Magazine Competition – The competition had an enthusiastic response from classes of all departments. The best wall magazine was adjudged by eminent members of the faculty of the college. v. Meet this Book – Jameelathu K.A introduced Onitsha, a novel by ------to a heterogeneous group of students to spark the interest to read. vi. Debate – Student teams of two members each participated in the debate moderated by Sanand Sadanandakumar and judged by Dr. Kesavan K. and Dr. V.R. Jayalakshmi. vii. Visit to a Library – A group of 8 students visited Mohammed Abdurahman Memorial Library & Club, Eriyad with Dr. Bindu Jamal and Najila T.Y. The students were introduced to a culture of lifelong learning and intellectual deliberations. They had firsthand experience with century-old palm-leaf

manuscripts and saw the entries of a number of eminent personalities like Sri. P.N. Panicker, Sri. C. Achutha Menon and the like. viii. Skit – This was organized as a competition among different group of students of the English Dept and judged by Dr. K.K. Vaheeda and Sri. Sanand Sadanandakumar. ix. Inter University Book Review Competition – The competiton had a huge response from notable colleges from all over Kerala like C.M.S. College, ; Carmel College, Mala; SreeKeralaVarma College, Thrissur; L.F. College, Guruvayur; St. Peter’s College, Kolenchery; Marian College, Kuttikanam; MES College, Marampally, etc. x. Invited Talk xi. Daily Reading Quiz – Three questions on literature were displayed on the notice – board daily for a week and the results were declared at the end of the week.  The Final Year Aquaculture Students have undergone training in fish seed production at Dept. of Fisheries, Malampuzha, on 10th and 11th July 2014  The PG Dept of Botany observed Karkidaka week by prepairing ‘Karkidakakanji’ and ‘Pathilacurry’ on 31st July 2014. Also exhibited the plants of DASAPUSHPAM and ten leafy plants  The PG Dept of Botany observed Karkidaka week by organizing a medicinal plant exhibition and distributed traditional medicinal gruel and a curry prepared with 10 indigenous leaves usually consumed by Keralites during the month of Karkidakam to the staff and students  The Dept of Mass Communication conducted a Quiz competition on current affairs for the Mass Communication students on 30th July 2014  The Dept of Mathematics conducted 3 Quiz programmes of 20 questions each (10 Maths questions & 10 general knowledge questions) on 1st July, 8th July and 15th July 2014.

 The department of Hindi organized a seminar on Hindi saahity mem naari ki bhoomika 30.07.2014  The P G Department of English has conducted an Erudite Lecture Series on the topic ‘Women and Society’, a talk by Dr Khadeeja Mumthaz (Writer & Activist) on 4thAugust 2014.  The P G Department of English and Film Club organized a talk on ‘Film Movements’ by Praveen M. Sukumaran, Film Director on 21stAugust 2014.  The Department of Arabic has organized a UGC Sponsored National Workshop on “PROFESSIONAL TRANSLATION THEORY AND PRACTICE” on 20th and 21st August 2014. The seminar was inaugurated by Sri M P Abdusammad Samadani MLA. He has also released the Proceedings of KSHEC Sponsored State Level Seminar on “Qur’an and Science”.  The PG Department of Commerce has organized a Two day International Conference on “Financial Innovations” on 5th and 6th August 2014.The conference was inaugurated by Dr.M.C.Dileep Kumar (Vice Chancellor, Sree Sankaracharya University of Sanskrit,Kalady,Ernakulam).40 paper presentations were held. Teachers, students and research scholars from various colleges were participated.  The Dept of Malayalam has conducted the formal inauguration of Folk-lore Club and conducted a seminar on Introduction to Folklore on 23rd August the World Folklore Day. The folklore club was inaugurated by famous folklorist Dilip Kumar.  The Dept of Malayalam has conducted a Two-Day U.G.C. Sponsored National Seminar on 25th and 26th August 2014 on Eco-Concepts in the Folk culture. . Sri John Paul, Famous Script Writer was the Chief Guest.  To remember the importance of Reading, the Dept of Malayalam has conducted a two day Book Exhibition in association with Kairaly Books on 19th and 20th August 2014. Purchased books from Kairaly Books worth Rs 10000/- to the Library. In this venue, the Dept has also conducted Memory Test, Extember Speech and Recitation competition for students

 The Dept of Mass Communication has conducted an orientation class for the academic and job oriented development of the students of mass communication on 22nd August 2014 by Prof. C D Chackappan (Former HOD, MCJ department, Calicut University).  The NSS Conducted Anti addiction class for first year students in association with the Kerala Excise Department on 7th August 2014.  As part of the Independence Day, the NSS has conducted a department wise quiz Competition on 14th August 2014. Physics Dept bagged first & second positions.  As part of the Independence Day, the NSS has conducted a Patriotic Song Competition for students on 18th August 2014.  The Department of Physical Education has started a fitness camp to prepare NCC Cadets for participating RDC and TSC camp.  A Two day National Seminar on ‘Innovative Approaches in Plant Sciences’ was organised by the PG Department of Botany on 18th & 19th September 2014 with the financial assistance from KSCSTE and in collaboration with DIC, Kerala Agriculture University.  The PG Department of Commerce honoured Dr.K P Sumedhan, Associate Professor who received “Sadguru Award” from University of Calicut. A meeting was arranged and a memento was presented to him.  The PG Department of English has organized two day UGC sponsored National Seminar on “Contemporary Asian Literature in English: Exploring Culture, Identity and Politics” on 27 & 28 October 2014. Renowned poet Ms. Meena Kandasamy inaugurated and delivered keynote address at the function. The other invited speakers were: Dr.Janaki, Reader, Calicut University Dr. B . Hariharan, Institute of English, Dr. Prasantha Kumar, Sree Sankara University. 36 Paper presentations. Secondary Quiz Competition’ based on cultural heritage of Kerala with special reference to Kodungallur. First Prize- 3000/ NHSS, Irinjalakuda Second Prize-2000/ St.Josephs’ HSS, Mathilakam Third Prize-1000/ HSS Panangad  The Department of Mathematics has distributed scholarships to 10 students on merit cum means (Rs. 1000 each).  The Department of Mathematics distributed trophy and cash award (Rs. 1000/-) to Miss Arsha.V.V, top scorer of 2011 – 2014 batch.  The Department of Statistics conducted a one day seminar on “Statistics in Practice” on 18th October 2014. The resource persons are (1) Dr. Sandhya E, Associate Professor, Dept. of Statistics, Prajyothi Nikethan College, Pudukad and (2) Dr. Satheesh S., Prof. and HOD, Dept. of Applied Sciences, Vidya Academy of Science and Technology, Thalakottur, Thrissur.  The BCA Association was inaugurated by Smt Sheeba Ameer on 11th November 2014  UGC sponsored National Seminar on “Philosophy of Swami Vivekananda in Today’s Education” organized by the language departments held on 3rd & 4th December 2014. The Seminar was inaugurated by Sri SVS Narayana Raju, Addl Registrar, DBHPS,  The Department of Arabic has conducted a COLLAGE Competition as the Part of International Arabic Celebration on 18th December 2014.  The Department of Hindi distributed the Sevi samman 2014 award to Sri.K.J Klement , the eminent Hindi teacher on 18th December 2014  The Department of Hindi published a manuscript magazine of students “Hindi sahity mem samaj” on 18th December 2014  The Department of Hindi released a Question bank for I Sem B.A/B.Sc Hindi prepared by students  The Department of Mathematics has organized a variety of programmes in connection with Mathematics Day Celebrations on 12th December 2014. Analysis. The department has arranged a competition on “Bhaskaraachaarya – history & contributions”. Sri. Hareesh master, senior lecturer, Dept. of Mathematics, Govt. Boys HSS Kodungallur was the chief judge. Sri Hareesh master also delivered a talk on Bhaskraachaarya.  In connection with the MES Golden jubilee celebrations, a symposium was arranged by the PG Department of Botany. Shri. Muhammed Ashraf presented the topic ‘Juvenile Justice Act’ on 11th December, 2014.  The PG Department of Botany has submitted a proposal to KSCSTE for financial assistance for Wetland Day Celebrations.  The PG Department of Botany has submitted a proposal to KSCSTE for financial assistance for Science day Celebrations  The PG Department of Botany in association with Bhoomithrasena club of the college and with the financial assistance from Government of Kerala (through Krishibhavan, S.N Puram) is conducting Vegetable cultivation in the campus. The Rain shelter was inaugurated by Smt. Medha Patkar, Famous Environmental Activist on 13th December 2014. Seedlings of various crops are being produced under this programme. Crops like Tomato, Cabbage, Cauliflower, Brinjal, Chilli, Amaranthus, Banana, Tapioca, Pumpkin, Snake gourd, Bitter gourd etc are being cultivated in the campus.  The Department of Politics has conducted Two days UGC sponsored National Seminar on “The Arab World: March towards Democracy or Turmoil” in association with the Arab Cultural Centre Jamiya Millia Islamiya University, New on 28th and 29th January 2015. The seminar was inauguarted by Dr. A. K. Ramakrishnan, Professor & Former Chairman, Centre for West Asian Studies, Jawaharlal Nehru University, New Delhi Refresher course/ Workshops/ Seminars etc. participated by teachers  Sri Firdous Mon K, Assistant Professor, Dept of Arabic has acted as a resource person in the UGC Minority Coaching Class “Development of short stories and Drama” held on 23rd June 2014 at University of Calicut.

 Sri Anurag V S and Sri Mohammed Salih E M of II year BCA have been selected as the Volunteers of 35th National Games held from 31st January to 14th February 2015.  Sri Siraj K A and Sri Hashir K A of II year BCA have attended the Palliative Care State Conference at L.B.S college of Engineering,Povval Kasarkkodu on January 29, 30, 31  Sri Athul Mithran of II year BCA was the member of the College cricket team who won the Inter Collegiate T20 Cricket Tournament.  Sri Anurag V S of II year BCA has attended the State level Base Ball & Throw Ball Camp held at M.E.S Asmabi college From 2nd to 15th January 2015. Extension activities  As part of the World Environment Day NSS conducted an Essay writing Competition for students in association with the Kerala Suchitwa Mission on 4th June 2014.  In connection with World Environment Day Observation, The NSS conducted two major programmes on 5th June 2014  Environment Day Rally- conducted in the adopted village, volunteers raise slogans against plastic. The programme was officially inaugurated by Smt Usha Sreenivasan, Ward Member SN Puram Panchayath and presided over by Principal Dr Ajims P Mohammed.  Students planted 30 trees in the college premises and 120 samplings in the nearby houses in the adopted village.  Under the initiation of NSS, students took Lahari Virudha pledge on 26th June 2014. Principal Dr Ajims P Mohammed led the pledge and deliver Lehari Virudha message.  In association with the SN Puram Government Homeo Clinic, the NSS organised a Free Homeo Medical Camp for the villagers. 138 patients visited the camp, medicines also were distributed at free of cost. The programme was officially inaugurated by Sri K M Abdul Salam, Secretary and Correspondent of MES Asmabi College.  The P.G Department of English organized Visit to a Library – Donated books collected from the English Department Faculty and Student community. A group of 8 students visited Mohammed Abdurahman Memorial Library & Club, Eriyad with Dr. Bindu Jamal and Najila T.Y. The students were introduced to a culture of lifelong learning and

intellectual deliberations. They had firsthand experience with century-old palm-leaf manuscripts and saw the entries of a number of eminent personalities like Sri. P.N. Panicker, Sri. C.  The Commerce Alumni Executive meeting was held on 11th August 2014  The Commerce Alumni Meet was held on 15th September 2014 at College Auditorium. Honored B.Com & M.Com Top Scorers & Merit cum Means Scholarships were distributed to 10 selected Commerce students.  As part of “ oru kai sahayam” , Mathematics Alumni Association & Botany Alumni Association extended a help to a poor family near Edavilangu  The PG Department of English has conducted an Annual Alumni Meet “Memoria” on 13th December 2014. Alumni of different years met together and shared their memories.  On 26th January 2015, Physics Department alumni were constituted. The first alumni association meeting was inaugurated by Dr.Ajims P Muhammeed, Principal of the institution. Dr. K.P.Sumedhan, President, College Alumni Association participated in the meeting. Aquaculture and Fish Processing of M.G University at Kottayam on 10th January 2015.

 Dr. Ignatius, C.A, Associate Professor, Department of Aquaculture conducted classes to the students of Add on Course on Ornamental Fish Culture during the evening hours of some days in January, 2015. NSS Activities

 Three Students Miss Thasleema (II BSc Botany), Miss Alfeena (II BSC Mathematics) and Mr Arjun (II BCom Co Operation) have represented the Kerala state in the NSS MEGA CAMP-2014-held at Jain Bharati Ladnun, Rajasthan from 5th September 2014 to 16th October 2014.  As part of the Onam celebrations, NSS has conducted Inter departmental Pookkalam Competition on 5th September 2014.  The NSS has conducted one day Orientation class followed by regular work for newly joined NSS volunteers on 20th September 2014  Sri Sanand C Sadanand, Assistant Professor, Department of Politics has conducted an Orientation class for NSS students at KKTM Govt College,Pullut,Kodungallur on 27-09- 2010.  Sri Akshay Joy of II BSc Aquaculture has got selection in to the South Indian Pre- Republic Day selection Camp after interview and physical test on 30th September 2014.  The NSS has conducted Gandhi Jayanthi day Quiz competition for students in association with the Quiz Club on 1st October 2014.  As part of the Gandhi Jayanthi day observation volunteers took Suchitwa pledge and cleaned the campus on 2nd October 2014.  As part of the Swacha Bharath programme volunteers cleaned the campus and nearby premises on 7th October 2014.  NSS volunteers took part very actively in the agricultural field maintenance, initiated by students of the college at Eriyad on 10th October 2014  25 students participated in the torchlight rally from Kothaparambu to Kodungallur as part of MES golden Jubilee Celebrations held on 17th October 2014.

 93 students participated in the walkathon as part of world palliative day, organized by Alpha Pain clinic at Swaraj round, Thrissur on 23rd October 2014.  Dr Asma V M, Programme Officer has conducted orientation class for NSS students at MES Ponnani college, Ponnani.  50 students participated as volunteers for the inauguration of Sumedha-an initiative from Adv V S Sunil Kumar, MLA for civil service coaching, held at S.N.Puram on 7th November 2014.  Kinginikoottam- as part of the children’s day celebrations, NSS units arranged a number of programmes in the government L.P.School,Veekode on 14th November 2014. NSS volunteers arranged cultural programmes for the school children. Notebooks, pen and chess boards were handed over to the school office bearers.  As part of One rupee One Life Campaign NSS units could able to collect Rs.4250, and handed over it to Alpha pain &Palliative Clinic, Edamuttam.  As part of the Aids day observation, NSS units organized a blood donation camp for students on 2nd December 2014. 56 students donated their blood. The camp was organized in association with HDFC Bank and Jubilee Mission Medical College, Thrissur.  For the organization of the NSS special camp, arranged an organising committee meeting on 10th December 2014 at Irshad UP School, Azhikode. The meeting was inaugurated by Sri E V Venu, President, Eriyad panchayath. Representatives from various social and political groups were participated.  The NSS Units have organized two days nature camp at Chulannur Peacock sanctuary, Palakkad in association with the Kerala Forest Department on 15th & 16th December 2014. Also arranged a number of classes and volunteers trekked through the forest.  Seven days NSS special camp organized at Irshad UP School, Azhikode from 19th December 2014 to 25th December 2014. The flagship theme was plastic free campaign in the well known Azhikode muzaris beach. Camp was officially inaugurated by Sri E V Venu, President, Eriyad Grama Panchayath. Students collected half tones of plastic wastes from the beach and handed over it to the panchath for recycling. Placed permanent information boards in the shore to point out the importance of plastic free

environment. In the valedictory function Hon MLA Adv V S Sunilkumar officially declared Azhikode muzaris beach as a plastic free beach.  As part of the National Games - Run Kerala Run campaign, NSS volunteers organised a Human tower inside the college on 17th January 2015.  In the Run Kerala Run programme whole NSS students took part in the National Games related run on 20th January 2015.  Arranged an awareness class for NSS volunteers prior to the social survey which is initiated by Salim Ali research foundation on 21st January 2015. Dr Vijayan, Chairman of the Salim Ali Foundation,noted environment and ex chairman of biodiversity board led the class.  8 NSS Volunteers have participated in the National students Palliative Care Conference held at LBS College,Kazarkode,initiated by Alpha Pain and Palliative Clinic on 28th to 30th January 2015.  115 NSS Volunteers participated in the social survey conducted at the Vellangallur Gram Panchayath on 31st January 2015. The survey was an initiation of Salim Ali research foundation. Association activities

 The BCA Association was inaugurated by Smt Sheeba Ameer on 11th November 2014  Mathematics Association was inaugurated by Prof. M.K. Chandran, Retd. Prof., Dept. of Mathematics, Christ College, Irinjalakuda on 11th December 2014. He presented a talk on “Kanakkinte kilivathil”.  The Physics association was inaugurated on 9th December 2014 by Prof. Antony Joseph, H. O. D, Dept. Of Physics, Calicut University. A talk on “Rare Radio Activities” by Dr. Antony Joseph was also held in connection with the association inauguration.  A Power Point Presentation competition on Energy Conservation was organized by Department of Physics on 17th December 2014.  The Commerce Association was inaugurated on 10th December 2014 by Sri Mejo John, Trainer, IAS academy.

 All NCC Cadets participated in the RUN KERALA RUN on 20th January 2015.  NCC Unit celebrated Nation’s 66th Republic Day by hoisting the National Flag and distributing sweets on 26th January 2015
