Catalog 457702 2010 SKF Timing Belt Kits Technical overview In today’s modern automotive engines, there has been a quiet revolution. The need to run more auxiliary equipment such as water pumps or injection pumps, combined with efficiency demands and noise reduction, has caused new timing belt and tensioner systems to be developed. At first, tensioners were of a fixed nature, usually of metal design. They were simple to install: just set tension and tighten. Today, tensioners more likely include an internal spring or external damper, and non-metallic components are becoming more common. This illustration provides an overview of a modern timing belt and tensioner system. Engine-front wheel drive Belt Camshaft pulley tensioner unit Timing belt Injection pump pulley Water pump pulley Idler pulley Crankshaft The crankshaft drives the camshaft(s) and actuates the valves via a belt or a chain. Due to its advantages compared with those of a chain, namely reduced space, as well as lighter and quieter running, the timing belt is widely used by many car manufacturers. Belt tensioner unit (TBT) Idler pulley The belt tensioner unit sets the right tension and provides guidance for the belt. The idler pulley is fixed and allows the belt to be correctly wound around the driven component. Gremlin Story, by Marc Goldblatt Classic-Technologies.com On February 1, 2016, I had an hour for lunch and I needed to ship out a Classic Technologies fuse box that day. However, I was out of paper preventing me from printing out the manuals I include with each sale. The plan was to buy paper, run home, print out the documents, close-up the package, and bring it to the post office. The first place I stopped surprisingly didn’t have paper so I ended up cutting through my neighborhood to go to another store. I happened to drive by a house that was having a detached garage being torn down and saw an old filthy car parked on the side of the road. It was a 1974 AMC Gremlin with a 232 inline six motor. I continued my errand and rushed back to look at the car. I saw that it had 48k miles, no rust, and was all original. I asked if it was for sale and was told yes, and they would take anything for it. They wanted it gone as soon as possible; clearly not knowing the value of a classic car in this condition. It had been parked since 1985 and the motor was frozen, one of the wheels was frozen and there were no keys or title to the car. First I offered $500 and they reiterated, we will take anything for it. I went to the ATM and returned asking if they would take $250; and they said $300 and its yours. The deal was done and the whole time I was thinking what am I going to tell my wife because I have two other classic cars and one that is still not finished after a few years of working on it. -

Contact: Miguel Ceballos FCA México Reports June 2015 Sales Increased 27 percent; Best Sales Month of 2015 FCA México posted its sixth consecutive month of sales gains with 8,303 units; an increase of 27 percent over June 2014 and best sales month of 2015 Alfa Romeo brand sales increased 89 percent Chrysler brand sales improved 30 percent versus June 2014 Dodge sales were up 15 percent Fiat brand logged a 58 percent increase over June 2014 Jeep Wrangler sales grew 33 percent Mitsubishi Motors Mexico accomplished 12 months of double-digit sales gains Ram brand set a monthly sales record; best June since 2010 July 1, 2015, Mexico City - FCA México today reported its sixth consecutive month of sales gains with 8,303 units, a 27 percent increase compared with sales in June 2014, making this the best sales month of 2015. “Last month, we set a sales record with our best sales month of 2015. This reflects that our efforts in bringing to the market new and revamped products are working and the market is responding in a positive way,” said Bruno Cattori, President & CEO of FCA México. “We will keep working to keep the pace and to answer demand for our products.” Alfa Romeo Brand Alfa Romeo brand continues its positive sales trend with sales of 17 units; best June ever. Alfa Romeo MiTo is powered by a 1.4L Turbo Multi-Air engine with an output of 170 Hp. Chrysler Brand Chrysler brand saw its sales spike 30 percent in June 2015, with 316 units. Contact: Brandt Rosenbusch 2008 Dodge Avenger Product Heritage The First Avenger Plans for the first car to carry the Avenger name were initiated by the Rootes Group (later to become Chrysler Europe) in England in 1963. Intended to replace Rootes’ best-selling vehicle of the time, the Hillman Minx, the project was delayed by funding issues; another car, the Arrow, would become the replacement for the Minx. Still, Rootes executives saw the need for a smaller car, and consideration of what they would call the “B-Car” began in earnest in November 1965. It would prove to be the first and last car developed by Rootes, following its 1967 takeover by Chrysler Corporation. Said to have drawn its inspiration from Detroit, the new car featured a readily identifiable “semi-fastback” design that would become its trademark. Much consideration was given to the needs of female customers; fashion consultants were employed during the design phase. The Hillman Avenger would feature a four-link rear suspension in place of traditional leaf springs, standard front anti-roll bars and a selection of four inline-four cylinder engines. The Hillman Avenger was introduced in February 1970 to popular acclaim. This B-class vehicle, built in sedan and wagon versions to compete with the Austin 1300, Ford Escort, Vauxhall Viva and other small cars, was designed to be the basic no-frills Hillman, with a four-speed manual gearbox an all-iron overhead valve engine. Four-door saloons were built first, followed by two-door saloons and five-door “estate” models. Many variations of the basic Avenger appeared over the years. -
