The UT HEALTH SCIENCE CENTER (UTHSC) College of invites applications for the position of a full-time tenure track position as a faculty member in the department of Advanced Practice and Doctoral Studies.

UT HEALTH SCIENCE CENTER UTHSC has educated more than 53,000 professionals on three campuses across the state – Memphis, Knoxville and Chattanooga. The UTHSC campuses include colleges of Allied Health Sciences, Dentistry, Graduate Health Sciences, Medicine, Nursing and Pharmacy. Patient care, professional education and research are carried out at hospitals and other clinical sites across Tennessee.

 PhD Program developed in 1988.  Offers dual DNP-PhD.  DNP specialty tracks include: Adult Gerontology Acute Care , Family Nurse Practitioner (FNP), Pediatric Nurse Practitioner, Neonatal Nurse Practitioner, Nurse , and Family Psychiatric/Mental Health Nurse Practitioner; dual options include Adult Gerontology Acute Care-FNP; Psych Mental Health Nursing-FNP.

RESPONSIBILITIES: Carries out research program, secures external funding in support of research, teaches in graduate programs, advises doctoral students and mentors students and faculty in research. The UTHSC embraces four missions: education, research, clinical care and institutional service. Teaching contributions are expected as is continued research productivity and scholarly contributions. Candidates eligible for appointment at the Associate Professor or Professor rank will have a well-established program of funded research.

QUALIFICATIONS: Unencumbered licensure as a in Tennessee or eligibility to obtain licensure in Tennessee required. Earned doctoral degree from an accredited university required. Documented high quality didactic teaching experience in nursing is desired. Active engagement in appropriate professional organizations is required. Evidence of scholarship including research and/or grants is required. Academic rank is commensurate with degree and experience.

FACULTY – BSN-MSN PROGRAM

The UT HEALTH SCIENCE CENTER (UTHSC) College of Nursing invites applications for the position of a full-time non-tenure track position as faculty in the Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) program.

UT HEALTH SCIENCE CENTER UTHSC has educated more than 53,000 health care professionals on three campuses across the state – Memphis, Knoxville and Chattanooga. The UTHSC campuses include colleges of Health Professions, Dentistry, Graduate Health Sciences, Medicine, Nursing and Pharmacy. Patient care, professional education and research are carried out at hospitals and other clinical sites across Tennessee.

 One of the first DNP programs in the country.  Accredited since 2009.  Offers BSN-DNP and MSN-DNP tracks.  Offers dual DNP-PhD.  DNP specialty tracks include: Adult Gerontology Acute Care Nurse Practitioner, Family Nurse Practitioner (FNP), Pediatric Nurse Practitioner, Neonatal Nurse Practitioner, Nurse Anesthesia, and Family Psychiatric/Mental Health Nurse Practitioner; dual options include Adult Gerontology Acute Care-FNP; Psych Mental Health Nursing-FNP.

RESPONSIBILITIES: Teaching responsibilities include both didactic course work and clinical supervision of students. The UTHSC embraces four missions: education, research, clinical care and institutional service. Responsibilities for this role include clinical practice assignment, in addition to educational responsibilities. Research/scholarship activities as well as service responsibilities will be determined in collaboration with Department Chair.

QUALIFICATIONS: Experience in one or more of these areas: medical-, critical care, psychiatric-mental health, pediatrics, reproductive-women’s health, leadership-management, and teaching in a professional nursing program is desired. Minimal requirements for the position include a RN license and a Master of Science in Nursing. All degrees must be from an accredited program. Academic rank is at instructor or assistant professor level based upon academic credentials.

RESPONSIBILITIES: Teaching responsibilities include both didactic course work (online and classroom, as appropriate) and clinical supervision of students. The UTHSC embraces four missions: education, research, clinical care and institutional service. Responsibilities for this role include clinical practice assignment, in addition to educational responsibilities. Research/scholarship activities as well as service responsibilities will be determined in collaboration with Department Chair.

QUALIFICATIONS: Licensure as a registered nurse and in Tennessee required, as well as certification as an Acute Care Nurse Practitioner. Doctoral degree preferred. Experience in advanced practice acute care nursing and education preferred. Academic rank commensurate with degree and experience.
